me too, I didnt know any of those prospect names until today. merkley is their most polarizing prospect. He could be their top skill wise, bc last year at the draft lots of covered mentioned he had the skill to be a Top 5 pick but the guy is just a head case and may never put it all together. Really believe that they guys they grabbed today are just safe slow development bets.
Now I feel like he will make the team and be surrounded by Karlsson, Burns and Vlasic and will be a stud. If you cant learn to be an NHL dman with that around you, - DDM-Coga
If I was Dorion I would required Merkley in the deal. He will be good. Kids always mature and figure stuff out. He'll be a good player. |

jesus dude.....karlsson, on that team, paired with Vlasic (i would assume)......he put up 70+ pts in Ottawa and played solid defence on a tire fire of a team, what do you think he's going to do in SJ. i wouldn't be surprised to see an PPG season out of him
if he's healthy, he's EASILY the odds on favorite to win the norris.....ESPECIALLY on a team that's that stacked - sensarmy_11
Oh yeah, he may put up 100 points and he'll still be horrible in his own end, which everyone else has known for years except the Ottawa fanbase.
One day, you guys will look back on this trade as the Sens dodging a bullet.
The Sharks won't be any closer to a cup than they were last year.
You really think they can get by Winnipeg, Nashville ... maybe even Vegas? (although everyone expects Vegas to take a step back) |

amazes me that after 10 years people are still this retarded.
hopefully in San Jose his D game is as appreciated as his ability to produce points - sensarmy_11

I think the preliminary on Pageau is a torn achilles tendon. Gone for up to 6 months.
Brace yourself, the pain is going to go a lot deeper.
Not sure if he is on Ottawa's list for LTIR payment.
Remember, Melnyk said 15 or 16 new roster players by next year and everybody laughed. Should have cried.
Everybody needs to listen very carefully to what Melnyk is saying. This is a controlled crash. We have watched the liquidation of the entire roster of skilled assets. Replacements are marginal players or picks and prospects on entry level deals. More skilled players will be moved.
Problem is everyone wants to evaluate this on the basis of some kind of hockey logic. This is about one thing only. It is about cleaning the books and preparing for the recapitalization (sale) of the franchise and the financing of the largest redevelopment project ever in the downtown Ottawa area. It is a similar business model to what was used in Pittsburgh and Edmonton (only on a far larger scale).
Everyone is going to get a lot more angry with Melnyk. I sense that some of you are now beginning to appreciate the magnitude of what is happening. I say again, hitting bottom is the imperative stage in this process. I don't think it was yesterday. I think there are a few more nasty days ahead. But, we will see the light soon enough. - spatso
If by light you mean giving up the first overall pick next year to Colorado then yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
IMO, there wont be much light until they make management changes, they cant trade worth of poop, and their drafting looks mediocre. I guess well see. |

This isn't really true. He's routinely referred to as the best Dman in the league by numerous insiders and publications. |

If they would have gotten any reasonable value for him i'd agree with you on all points. I think he next contract will be too high, but they gave him up for so little.
I agree he is not good in his own end. |

Well, it has been a number of very enjoyable years as a Senators fan, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to take a break away from this team.
I've been a supporter since 2002 (I was 11 at the time), and it breaks my heart to have to give 'em up, but I can't support a franchise that isn't trying to win. No team trades a 28-year old generational player for nothing unless winning is not a goal of the franchise. The only goal is to save money for Melnyk. Nothing else matters at this stage.
I will follow the Senators prospects and young players with interest, and when Melnyk leaves/dies, I may return to the fold. In the meantime, I'm gonna try to be a Jets fan. If I can't really get into the spirit of that, I will probably just stop watching the NHL. - Mr_Clean
The whole situation has been one unfortunate event after another for Sens fans.
While Leafs fans, are chuckling away, there are some of us who sympathize because we know what it is like to have a completely embarrassing organization top to bottom.
It won't last forever, cheer for another team. I never stopped being a Leafs fan, but I did cheer for the Sabres for a couple playoff runs

Good old spatso the visionary. Always ahead of the curve telling everyone what to expect moving forward.
Remind us, please, of some of your clairvoyant revelations regarding the Sens from one year ago. Oh, never mind, I see someone has already taken the initiative on that front.
When that light at the end of the tunnel gets closer watch for the letters CN. |

Interesting thought exercise but I would liken it to asking myself if it is better to step in horse poop or bull poop. Coincidentally that is the same as comparing spatso posts to derps posts. |

bit of both
Enjoy watching people like Spatso and Doppelganger and one guy I know in real life having to eat their words.
I honestly sympathize with many of you guys though.. and then Pageau gets hurt also.
The bad luck and stupidity is just unnecessarily piling on the Sens fans at this point. |

They'll be in tough to make the playoffs, just because that division is so ridiculous.
They'll likely fight St. Louis for 3/4 in the Division.
