I don't remember that one either, but I don't think it would be a surprise.

I did see Ott 1st, Col 1st, Barrie and Makar.

I dunno man, I think you just kind of shake your head, wait until Stone and Duchene leave and the dust clears, and you just start all over again and hope to enjoy watching the younger players progress.

You aren't the only fanbase that has been pretty much left with that even if it does suck.

Debatably better by a very small margin in own end + VASTLY inferior everywhere else = VASTLY INFERIOR dman

I truly feel bad for Pierre Dorion. Who knows if he is a capable NHL GM.

Every move and decision he makes is based on having to provide near-term financial benefit to an inept, shallow-pocketed, toxic owner.

Melnyk drives every decision made in Ottawa. For the last few years it was all about short sighted moves to try and squeak into the playoffs so he could get a round of playoff revenue.

Now it is about putting together the lowest payroll possible so he can squeak by with a profit based on TV revenue and moderate/low attendance revenue.

Melynk does not care about winning a Cup. He cares about trying to have positive cash flow from his hockey team because all his other business ventures have gone bust.

Poor Pierre Dorion ends up being the public face for the hockey decisions that this results in.

BTW, karlsson had more hits, blocked shots, takeaways, better possession numbers (which when considering the teams they played for, is insanely telling).....he also played more on the PK...............and he did all that, while putting up 10 more pts in 5 less games, on one foot.

tell me again which aspect of the game rielly is better at .

Well, 52 points and better in his own zone, is fine by me. Especially when we’ve got an entire top 6 of D better than every dman you have in your organization, NOW, and a pile of forwards better than you have in your organization.

Anyway, it’ll be fun to see what he can do. It’s been years Sens fans have been claiming he can do so much more if not for him being on a tire fire of a team.

Now we get to see.

Well, it has been a number of very enjoyable years as a Senators fan, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to take a break away from this team.

I've been a supporter since 2002 (I was 11 at the time), and it breaks my heart to have to give 'em up, but I can't support a franchise that isn't trying to win. No team trades a 28-year old generational player for nothing unless winning is not a goal of the franchise. The only goal is to save money for Melnyk. Nothing else matters at this stage.

I will follow the Senators prospects and young players with interest, and when Melnyk leaves/dies, I may return to the fold. In the meantime, I'm gonna try to be a Jets fan. If I can't really get into the spirit of that, I will probably just stop watching the NHL.

I understand how your feeling, as a leaf fan outside of the present and two years in 93' 94' it has been a poop show. but giving up on your team now will mean no team at all. there have been countless examples where when the fans stop coming the team leaves, and I certainly don't feel like the Ottawa area is indestructible. how many times have the roughriders come and gone? its a government town on top of that which makes it tough. Melnyk isn't going anywhere and even though he is awful at least he is dedicated to keeping the team there (as he has shown with his actions if not his words). unfortunately, no Melnyk equals no team I'm afraid.......p.s- why the jets? the leafs are closer geographically and you could actually see games as even if you don't travel here we visit Ottawa more than the jets? anyways, I just thought that was a tad odd. good luck with everything and all the best

yeah, thats fair. I just never felt they were really going to do it, where as in 93 it seemed much more likely. Sundin never had the heart that gilmour and clark did
