Owners are not going to miss out on 600m expansion fee for seattle, Quebec city and Houston have NHL ready arena already and at 32 teams (with seattle), relocation is best.

Ottawa pretty much negotiated themselves out of a good player. Ottawa GM's backed themselves into a corner trying to get a slam dunk deal when the entire league knew he had to trade Karlsson by the time camp opened.

Getting 6 pieces where the only meaningful piece is the 1st round pick (likely low 20s or 30/31) is pretty weak for a Norris-winning guy regardless of contract situation.

Ottawa played themselves in thinking they were a contender when they overpaid for Duchene and had to trade key parts of their core away for pennies on the dollar.

to be fair to tierny he was 3rd line C in SJS behind Thornton and Couture, had 17g so IF and that is a big fat whopping if he pulls a William Karlson it make the trade look better..
