To be fair, one does not simply walk into the Nucks defensive group. Not when you have the likes of Tanev (best player to never have won a Norris), Elder, Stetcher, Erik "Gudbranson for Marner and a 1st" Gudbranson, Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La La and Woo |

Impossible.
Melnyk is way too cheap to pull such a scheme. |

Here's the bizarre thing:
If Karlsson had agreed to a contract extension, I would have gladly agreed to Gardiner, Willy Ny and a 1st. I still think that's a good deal for the Leafs.
Instead, San Jose dealt basically a 1st, and 2nd and a giant load of poop.
It's franking bizarre. - Atomic Wedgie
Would have been a good deal for both sides and one that Ottawa would have been forced to think about if not accept given what the alternative package turned out to be.
But Dorion accepted the best offer he was offered. Either that, or Karlsson wouldn't agree to an extension because he knows he's going to Tampa Bay for free as a UFA unless San Jose gives him a stupid amount of money. |

Kyle Dubas on wanting a long-term deal for William Nylander: “The whole time I’m here, until they kick me out one day, William is a part of the group”
Dubas: That’s been our focus. I know that the opposite has sort of been written quite a bit. Our major focus has been on longer term. He’s a player that we see as being a fit with our team for the long-term future. The whole time I’m here until they kick me out one day, William is a part of the group. That’s been our focus. There are varying different terms we can go to from one to eight years, but we see William as a long-term piece of our core here. He’s a good young player and we hope in the days and weeks to come we can get this sorted out and he’ll be back with the Maple Leafs.
Some people have been so mean to William. |

Dubas gets it, and is secure in his sexuality unlike some around here who can't handle the way Willy makes them feel. |

Or maybe he just wants to go to free agency and have his pick of the most attractive destination/money next summer.

Which could very well be Tampa Bay which is a worst case scenario for the Leafs because they're already a better, all around team, adding Karlsson to that mix just makes them disgustingly good. |

TB couldn’t afford him
The players that they gave NMC to take less money didn’t want to be traded...shocking. |

And He went to the Sharks, so no need for you to worry about that. |

Seems like they're all at it.
Peter Chiarelli on Karlsson:
“I won’t lie. When he came to our division, there was an expletive coming out of my mouth. He’d be nice to have here, but we weren’t on his list. It was a non starter"
Is penis an expletive? |

there's only one issue with this assertion... guys like Stamkos, Hedman and Kucherov appear to be taken "home town discounts"... I'm not so sure that those guys would welcome someone all of sudden showing up and making 11-12Million.
In Toronto all kinds of ridiculous locker room controversies are bubbling according to the "highly esteemed" media hacks... why would Tampa be immune? While the tax rate is of course a huge determining factor... I don't suppose it affects controversies.

based on what Ottawa got from the Sharks - would you know admit that Nylander, Gardiner and 1st would be an overpayment? |

Tampa would have to unload several good players to fit Karlsson in.
Not worried. |
