Yup, just wait until both Duchesne and Stone demand to be traded.
- BiggE

Probably wouldn't happen but if I am stone or Duchesne I hold out until moved. Last year of their deal. Why risk an injury playing for that dumpster fire this year. They couldn't even tank right because they gave their first rounder to Colorado.

I'll be curious if they finally make the call to waive someone like Weise and/or Lehtera to Lehigh.

They did it to AMac so why not?

17 guys realistically going for 14 spots...it could certainly happen
(18 if you prefer to count frost)

I think it's very possible, especially now that Lehtera only has one year left. However, they seem to be pretty deep with forwards in LHV so it may just be that if a guy like Weal doesn't crack the starting lineup, they look to trade him.

For me, as long as they have strong camps, I prefer to see this opening night:

Giroux - Couturier - Konecny
van Riemsdyk - Patrick - Voracek
Lindblom - Vorobyev - Simmonds
Aube- Kubal - Laughton - Raffl

Extra: Weal, Lehtera
Waived: Weise, Leier

Defense:
Provorov/Gostisbehere
Hagg/Sanheim
Myers/Gudas

Extra: Folin

Goalies:
Elliott
Neuvirth

I think Frost is going back to Juniors so it will be 17. If both Vorobyev and NAK make the opening night lineup and all are healthy, here is how I guess it may shake out.

They will carry 2 spares so 3 need to go. I think Weal gets traded and Vecchs who is still waiver exempt gets sent down, so now we're down to 15. At that point, I think they waive Leier who probably won't get claimed and they carry the 2 remaining vets as spares. Hopefully they can move Lehtera at the deadline (for those good old future considerations) if they retain the max $$, to someone who has some injured forwards. They could then bring up either Leier or Vecchs to be the other spare forward. Or better yet, bring both up and waive Weise.

I definitely could see Weal moved. Could have the most value between Lehtera, Weise and Leier as some team might think he could produce in a top 9 role.

I like it except that Gudas and Myers are both RH shots, I think the D mix would be:

Provy/Ghost
Sanheim/Gudas
Hagg/Myers

I could see some team thinking they need more scoring and take a chance during camp. Detroit just lost Zetterberg. Not saying Weal can replace him but he could be had cheap and bring some offensive skills. And is also still young to keep around if they want.

OTOH, Hextall plays his cards pretty close to the vest so who really knows what he is thinking?

In news you never thought you'd see, the Flyers have the 6th most cap space in the NHL

If he's going to roll the top 3 lines equally, does it really matter?
If, as Bill has mentioned before, Lindblom can play the right side, why not roll with:

G-Coots-Jake
JVR-Patrick-Lindblom
TK-Laughton-Simmonds
Raffl-Lehtera or Weal-Weal or NAK

or, better yet if Vorobyev can earn the 3C spot:

G-Coots-Jake
JVR-Patrick-Lindblom
TK-Vorobyev-Simmonds
Raffl-Laughton-Weal or NAK

- BiggE

I’m all for balancing the lines. I think you’re asking TK to carry that line though. Hopefully he’s ready for that. I’d still split up G and Jake. I like the idea of having an elite passer with JVR.

Go look at the Detroit roster. They have some terrible deals and really not a lot in the prospect pool. I like Larkin but don't think he is a franchise changer. Zadina was a huge get.

G-Coots-TK
JVR-Patrick-Voracek
Lindblom-Vorobyev-Simmonds

Vorobyev is a very good passer/playmaker which is what you need between Lindblom and Simmonds.

Yup, Detroit and Ottawa are going to be bad for a while but at least Detroit has Zadina and their 2019 first. Ottawa may suck for a very long time.

He also has good size and plays a 200 foot type game.
