Henrik Zetterberg’s career is over due to his back condition, GM Ken Holland announced today. #RedWings - jimbro83
That would be a contract I wouldn't mind the Rangers trading for. It'll only cost them the insurnce money and the contract slot. |

I am still unclear why team's want to do that, what's the incentive? they can just put it on LTIR like we would? |

Detroit in rebuild as well and $ really aren't an issue there. Agreed that would be a wise move for NY but don't see the Red Wings needing to do something like that. Plus, they will want him to retire as a member of that franchise. |

I also don't understand it 100 %, but it happens quite a lot now. Pronger, Bolland, Hossa, Datsyuk, Horton, Clarkson, Savard. I'm pretty sure the contract slot it still valuable. |

when it comes to Quinn, more than anything, I am very curious how the 3 bachelor pad boys (Skjei, Hayes and Vesey) respond to him.
hopefully Quinn gets something out of Vesey resembling the kid everyone was freaking out to try and get

well most of those examples were Arizona artifically acquiring those players to raise their cap. They had low salaries, way lower than their cap and they didn't put them on LTIR.
The Rangers wouldn't do that, yeah, we have cap space for a little while this summer, but that's not going to be the norm.

Vesey just has to finish, the other parts of his game are fine. Hit a crap load of posts last year. Gets a bit of confidence he will be good to go. |

Run of the mill 3rd liner. Trade him while he still has value. |

If he can notch 18-22 goals for $2.275 million, that's a nice bargain for the contract. |

Outside of the fact the fans love Lundqvist, why wouldn't you trade a 36 years old goalie making $8.5M the next three years for assets while you're rebuilding?
The Ranger D looks pretty decent so as long as Henrik isn't getting lit up he could rebound from last year and increase his trade value. Just saying.

Cause he holds all the chips, and what contender needs a goalie at his cap unless their goalie gets hurt? |
