Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks cut 5 players ahead of Monday's game in Salt Lake City The Vancouver Canucks are hitting the road for back-to-back games after assigning Jalen Chatfield, Jonathan Dahlen and Petrus Palmu to the Utica Comets, and placing Reid Boucher and Ashton Sautner on waivers.

The boys are in tough tonight against what looks like a full LA squad. There wasn't really any competition from the youth, which is disappointing.

Goldobin has the most offensive upside so he would be more likely to get claimed. But Archibald and Gaunce are the only depth forwards they have with size so they will likely both be needed at some point during the year. These guys aren’t good players but Benning can’t afford to lose any assets for nothing at this point.

They really need to trade away at least one of Gagner, Granlund, Goldobin, Leipsic or Motte in order to change the team’s mix away from having too many soft, ineffective, middle 6 types.

Too bad Loui is healing faster. Someone should push on his bruise.

I expect we lose Archibald (which sucks). I don't think anyone would take Gaunce. Even though I know he has size, good positioning and other things coaches like .. I've never seen any non-goon with such stone hands. It's pretty painful to watch him shovel the puck at the net the way he does.

Someone in the west will disappoint as well, I pegged the Avs but I really liked them picking up Grubauer so now I’m not sure.
