Gotta get out from underneath the Backes contract somehow. I’d like to see them free up that money and get a guy like Ferland in Carolina.

Cehlarik recalled. Well deserved, IMO. Stuck him next to UTE and see what he can do.

Worth a shot. Hopefully he and Krejci can gel. Ute needs to have a stable line for once!!!

They had some chemistry last season before Cehlarik got injured.

Hope they can find it again. Cehlarik has the tools ... big body, good hands. He’ll be an NHL regular whether it winds up being here or somewhere else.

Anders Bjork’s season is over. Again. More shoulder surgery.

Looking less and less promising that he can beat these shoulder issues and continue his progression and development. Not good.

Wishing the kid all the best. He’s gotta be feeling pretty discouraged right now.

That's terrible news.

Could/should we shop the captain at the deadline and what return would we realistically expect?
If he's game for it I would do it for a good return. Guy has been an absolute A+ defender through the years but I think it's time. If we can trade 77 in his waning years...

God I hope he doesn't give up serious assets for a rental.
What do you all want to see happen here?

Young Chuckie wants his parents to get another Stanley Cup. Who knows how far they’ll go to get it.

I’d like to see them go after long term talent - not rentals.

Lee Stempniak added to Providence roster on a PTO.

That's odd. Does that mean someone is going maybe? Had no beef with him as a player, limited secondary sniper who plays hard.

Maybe he'll rejoin with Backes after 30 years apart. Or replace him

Why the (frank) does everyone have wet panties over trading half a system and paying 9mil a year for Stone? He's good but no (frank)ing way that good. Albatross contract in waiting

Of the prospects in Providence and beyond ... There’s very few that I don’t include in any talks. T-Fred, Vaaaaak, I have a thing for Donato (I think he can be an elite scorer), Studnicka. I also try to re-up McIntyre. Everyone else ... Fair game.

That said, I agree it’s dumb to give up half the prospects pool for 1 guy who will be overpaid. I’m all set ... I’d rather see a smart, quality hockey trade over the summer than a deadline rip-off.

I don’t think this is the year boys ... would rather Sweeney stay the course, address the teams’ needs and look to improve over the offseason, then go all-in next season.

with Bergy, Krejci and Chara getting older I think they should do something unless it is a a dumb trade...my biggest fear is giving up good assets for a guy that has no term left on a contract; hate those deals and very risky...

History shows those type of trades don't normally work. I like the prospects you mention; was hoping for more from Donato this year tho...

the size of contracts these days are nutsy and pretty much impossible to avoid it..

I’m all for a trade ... Just don’t think the value will be there at this point without a vast, vast overpayment for a guy who likely has no term left as you mentioned.

I think Sweeney missed out bigtime last summer. The Skinner trade comes to mind. There were a couple of others as well.

Make a good trade if there’s one out there, no rentals this year. Build it up this summer (like he should have done last summer), then go all in next season. Bolster with rentals then if you need to. Rentals this season are just going to fill gaps that should have been filled-in last off-season.

Too far uphill to climb this season, IMO. Largely due to Sweeney’s complacency over the summer.

I've heard a very few rumblings about Palmieri. That would be the type of under the radar move that would be ideal if he could be had. Wouldn't mind giving up assets for that player and contract as opposed to Stone with similar numbers and ridiculously off base evaluation. Then again why would NJ part with that. Just yapping.

No rentals would fit this team and it's future. Zero.

There is TB at over 90 points and a bunch at 73-75 points including the Bruins so they are definitely in the mix. Tough part is getting out of the division in the stupid playoff format
