Pretty much on point but I think if Allen had stopped the breakaway it might have changed the game. Helly just plain won the game for the Jets. For the Blues to win they have to show some urgency to their game and get Allen to give them a chance to get it going. Let's go Blues

Hellebuyk played well, but it seems like every goalie we play against plays well. When do you start blaming the shooters for making the goalies look so good?

Helly played ok. Blues put a lot of pucks into him and missed the net on their better chances. The save on O'Reilly was the right desperation save, a WIT save as Mitch Korn calls it (Whatever It Takes), but a slightly better shot still scores.

I watched that game and I saw one goalie make great, timely saves. The Blues struggled penetrating the house but did a few times. Hellybuk's recovery and rebound control were excellent. He stopped the redirections whether it was a Blues player or his own. I dont care if it was a lucky save but blaming ROR for shot placement there is nuts. He got it over pad height, from an angle and off quickly. The old way was that shot's delayed, blocked or a post.

The breakaway goal Allen needs to stop some of those period. The first was tough and so were some of the others. But you have to challenge and skate with the guy on the breakaway, he doesnt.

Tired of the excuses defending him. He gives up ill-timed goals and the team gives up for a few minutes and that has been going on for too long.

Against Chicago, there were coverage issues but that team felt they were in it bc it's Allen in net. They went all in to get one goal knowing it would shake him.

A lot of savable goals in that game.

He's killing the team, period. Yes, they need to do a lot better. Their coverage sucks, they stand still instead of covering one on one when a team skates like that. Too many men on a pp is ridiculous.

You can see this team being better. My goat right now, is I need to see more from Steen and JayBo. JayBo bails on the line way too early. There is no reason for dumping and chasing on this team. The regroupings have been atrocious.

Butler has looked pretty good, as has Dunn. Parayko and Petro have shown flashes both ways and sometimes they take too long to make puck decisions.

Kyrou looks like the real deal. Schwartz needs to get on it. Tarasenko still is playing way too lazy of a game. ROR is showing them you can use skill and quick, simple decisions with the puck.

Bortuzzo was garbage in that game.

I hope they win a few but suck a bit so they can get their crap together, bc that should be a hell of a team.

Don't look now but Hutton stole a game for the Sabres; stopping 43 out of 44 shots.

In all fairness, there wasn't a blog here since April. So the few of us that are regulars had basically given up. There wasn't a reason to be here everyday.

But glad that Jason is back!

Is Joel Edmundson that important to this team?

The defense was garbage vs Chicago.

Moving Jay Bo to the third pairing is going to be a huge thing for this team

Allen has to be better quick or he has to go. Plain and simple. I've been a supporter of his for a long time but he just doesn't have it. The defense has been bad, jaybo in particular, but look at Carey Price or these other guys who steal games with bad defense.

In my opinion he had 1 run 2 years ago in the playoffs where he stole a series and some games. since then and even before then (for the most part) he hasn't been able to be relied upon to make that big timely save while at the same time is susceptible to letting in a fair amount of weak goals

how about the team in front of him not quit? How about the offense score more than 1 fricking goal for him

Saturday night he made big saves and not one of those goals was his fault

Some of you guys are never going to be happy

Blues could trade for Bob and you all would find ways to nit pick his game too

Get over it

Get over it ? Over what ? having a below average starting goalie ? I’m over it. I still watch the games but reality is still reality.
I’ve been playing goalie for over 25 years now and still am enjoying myself in beer leagues. I of all people have sympathy for a goalie being a scapegoat but goaltending in general either elevates a team or kills it.
Our lineup is good enough to contend and almost everyone agrees Allen is the question mark
