Gillis segment 1

Lots of injuries in 2011 playoff run cost them the cup

Hodgson had a lot of outside influences that caused Canucks headaches . It was better to trade him that deal with issues

Media and everyone hated Gillis and Canucks . Lots of locker room issues amongst themselves also. He would have done things differently.

In hindsight he would have changed his scouting staff earlier

Gillis doesn't watch Canucks anymore but he does watch other exciting teams. When asked if he finds them a bad team he said I won't say that. ( That's is what he hinted around though.)

He likes Pettersson and may start following them again if Pettersson keeps it up.

Ouch

Asked if he would ever go back to Canucks? I would have to think long and hard but wouldn't answer.

Asked if he likes Canucks D ? He avoided the question and named the type of D he would like which is the total opposite of what Canucks currently have.

Baumgartner is not a good D coach

Hinting around he has talked with Seattle and may be very interested in continuing talks with the club

I would think Kesler and most other people on the team. Guy is a grade A douche.

I was thinking Lu might be a bad influence as well considering his contract situation at the time.

When asked about regretting about trading draft picks Gillis said we had it covered , there was numerous trades that were lined up when he was fired that would have changed the landscape of the Canucks. Sekeres hinted it was a Kesler trade.

Kind of irrelevant now. They should interview Nonis and ask him what he would of done if not fired. Then ask Burkie. Then the next guy... ah, they can just stop at Burkie.

Maybe it's not the coach? Tough to make an omelet with a pile of poop.

Sedins by far the easiest players to deal with. He called them dream players.

Canucks went hard after Shea Weber during free agency and were very close but then Flyers came in with the ridiculous offer.

Gillis said media is a huge part of whether a free agent wants to sign with a certain city/team. Can be a very negative influence.

I remember him talking about that, how could they make an offer that Nashville wouldn't match, I believe they were working on a one year massive payday (whatever a max would be back then) with the opportunity to negotiate an extension in January

I surprised they matched the Flyers . I thought for sure Shea would be a Flyer

Yeah, I would have taken the 4 first round picks and then done my best in free agency to something.
