Hey - I posted a question about the roster moves allowed for the year in the pool, did you see it?
- LeftCoaster

Like you can make 50 roster moves in a season. You’re no Brian Burke.

They went hard after Weber through trade right before Philly offer-sheeted him

True....things got away from him. I'm of the opinion things have gotten away from Benning as well, just in a different manner. A lot of missteps and if Boeser struggles this year, then in five years you've basically got Pettersson and the hope that Hughes is going to an impact player. Is that enough to keep his job after all wasted money and poor trades after five years?

Overall I’d say he’s been on the wrong side of mediocre, with some recent improvement. I’m interested to see what he does this year, but I wouldn’t be heartbroken if he’s let go. Of all the mistakes that he’s made the thing that annoys me the most is how he keeps shifting the goal posts every season and acting like that’s been the plan all along. Stay competitive to rebuild to accelerated rebuild ir whatever they call it.

I feel like tomorrow will be Maury Povich versus Geraldo Rivera on the Jerry Springer show.

Gillis honestly handled himself better than I thought he would, outside of a couple of subtle jabs at aqua/benning.

I thought he would be way more defensive than he was.

Aquillini still has tickets to sell, he's going to spend more time talking about Pettersson and the prospects than he is about Gillis.

He’s going to be on the radio, in an interview on SN (Rogers), the teams official radio sponsor/broadcaster.

Yeah, I’m sure the questions will be scripted, no surprises etc.

I know Gillis inherited a good core but he was fired after five years of having tremendous success, I find it hard to believe the Aquilini group will keep Benning around much longer with the continued poor finishes after five or six years. Despite the collection of three great young players.
- LeftCoaster

That's a little too simplified I think. It's pretty obvious the job orders are not aligned.

The Gillis interview was great.

He was a good GM. Like him or not.

The damn NTC's were a big negative.

Carol
I originally suggested pettersson as a consideration for captain next season after the 2nd calgary game.
He leads by example on the ice and it's noticeable how the team responds to him. Even more so than horvat it seems.

But his age is likely an issue. The vets may get a bit out of joint.

Personally I think giving Horvat the C (as planned) just might take him to another level we havent seen yet. Give Pettersson an A

Gillis was good at trades and contracts. JB is good at drafting. They are almost a match made in heaven.

Define the canuck average of drafting and tell me if Benning is below or above it?

You don't measure him against the Canucks lol, you measure him against the league and the league historically. You're a better drafter than the Canucks historical average and you're getting your ass handed to you in the HB Pool

Edit: you have 12 (frank)in points in a week and a half LOL!

In tough tonight against Tampa, although they've strangely only played one game so far. They might be rusty?
