Need to move on from him, wont be getting any better and hes not worth more than hes paid now.

I feel that is part of their plan. But I just hope he signs elsewhere regardless.

Matthews was on spittin chicklets and one of the things they asked was what was the dumbest thing you read about yourself or whatever in Toronto and he said the JT thing about how pissed he was they signed him good times.

I’m sure those are easy to come by, especially from another playoff team. Leaves Leafs with two guys that are good at moving the puck from the back end. Which wouldn’t be good considering the system the leafs are playing which puts a lot of weight on the dmen to be able to make good long passes out of the zone to the wingers who are flying the zone as soon as the D touch the puck.

None of our D are great in our end, Jake is much better then everyone but Rielly. Dermott’s ok, he’ll be the new Jake until he’s 27-28

Agreed. Unless they can find an upgrade but that seems pretty unlikely, which is easy said then done.

We will have cap concerns, cant afford to pay a defensive whole 5.5 or more.

Dermott can move the puck and Rielly. That’s about it for above average D that can move the puck that would be left if leafs move Gardiner for a defensive dman. The kind of dman you want won’t be coming from a playoff team to the leafs for Gardiner. Guys like Vlasic aren’t available and that’s the kind of guy Leafs need. Why would a non playoff team want a guy who’s a UFA at the end of the year? Only teams that would want Gardiner at the deadline are playoff teams and I doubt they would want to subtract from their team.

If Jake didn't have the colossal brain cramps, he'd be a Norris threat, top pairing D; he actually does a lot of things well.

Anybody read Hitchcock's quotes from Leafs Lunch? He had some pretty high praises for the Leafs' D.
