Keep in mind there was no way Ottawa was going to trade Karlsson to a team in the east, especially after the Hoffman re-trade. That was in the trade agreement. - Fenrir
I am not saying that's not the case, but I also don't understand that thinking. Ottawa is going to suck for the next 2-3 years at a minimum. Thus, Karlsson isn't going to hurt you in meaningful games in the short term, because you aren't going to be playing any meaningful games. And then by the time you get better, he might be past his peak.
If they could have gotten more from an Eastern team, but chose the Sharks offer because they didn't want him playing in the East, that is idiotic, IMO.

It's crazy to think if this team really is a bottom 3 team, Hank wants to stick around for this crap. He has maybe 3 years left in his career as a starter - TPC
Is it really so hard to believe that the guy just loves being a New York Ranger, and a New Yorker??? Where else is he going to live to life he leads? It's not like he's going to go somewhere else and make way more money.
No matter what his level of play, we will be lamenting his loss after he's gone.

I am not thinking about the fans. I am thinking about him. He is the ultimate competitor. Does he want to waste the last couple of years on a bottom dweller. The guy wants a cup.

It's not hard to believe he loves being where he is, but if he could get himself onto a playoff team it could be tempting.
Philly needs real goaltending, has the cap space and should be a playoff team. They have a lot of picks they could deal (9 picks in 7 rounds this year) and some good prospects.
Hank cuddling up next to Gritty is an image that'll make us all sick.

And I need Sofia Vergara to sit on my face. But...

He can be the back up when the Rangers win the cup in a few years.

if it ever happened I think it would be with St Louis with the Rangers taking back Jake Allen in the deal along with picks/ prospects
can't even fathom they would even consider sending him to Philadelphia
