As much pleasure as I have I watching the tire fire in Ottawa, this is a just a super d-bag move by the cabbie. People poop talk bosses and co-workers all the time and should be able to do so without worry of it being made public. Doesn’t bode well for veterans like Duchene considering young, impressionable players like Formenton were in there too. Just an all around poopty situation.

I vet what your saying. Talk trash behind peoples back is ok unless you get caught. This isnt 9 to 5rs doing thankless work for low pay. These are millionaires fighting on the same team.

Im just glad Duchene hasnt taken team meetings seriously in over 3 weeks.

Now Stones comments after the 9-2 make sens

All the talk of buiding team unity and team culture was BS according to these playdrs. In light of last years internal fiasco its amazing.
The veteran present in uber should have spoke up and said all right guys enough.

This could actually be turned into a positive, if changes are made based on their comments. They represent some of the team's best players, so ignoring their brutal honesty would be foolish. Based on results, I can't say that their assessments are that far off. Rude yes, but it was supposed to remain private. And also pretty accurate by the sounds of it.

Hope the team sues the poop out of the Uber driver for breach of privacy without consent.

How much longer until Bettman finally puts this franchise out of its misery? It is beyond embarrasing at this point.

Lol why would they have spoken up and said enough? They all agree on what was being said, plus they had no reason to believe this conversation would become public.

Great time to ditch a coach - the proof is in the pudding that he has lost ALL confidence from a great statistical portion of the team.

Truth hurts sometimes. Pretty easy firing substantiation in my books. Can never get any respect back even if he stays.

So dumb. People should be held accountable for what they say.

Why blame the guy who's making $5 an hour?

Um ... because I think his privacy policy is supposed to prevent this from happening without consent? And because real people have real opinions when in a relaxed environment.

You've never said anything disparaging about anybody behind their backs ever?

You're right, they should be held accountable for their tone and disrespect to a degree. But the essence of what they were saying is hard to ignore.

They cant be held accountable for what they said. Thats lawsuit city. If they said it in a media scrum different story but if they get sat for this the union will be all over the NHL.

Accountable for saying bad things about their superiors? Stuff that literally everybody says? Guarantee you've said things of that ilk about a boss you've had

Of course I have and I have paid for it. You learn from it. People suggesting the Uber driver or the coach should lose their jobs are absolute morons. These players are the ones that made the idiotic comments.

When I said the players should be held accountable, I meant via internal meetings not legally.

He most likely violated Uber's terms and conditions. Depending on how big this story gets they might choose to fire him for it. Drivers have certainly been fired for less.

He had to know this could blow up when he uploaded it.

Obviously the bulk of the blame lies with the players though.

And I bet your words even had some merit behind them.

Both parties were idiots to varying degrees. The driver breached privacy conduct however. The equivalent would be confessing something to a friend, who then spills the beans. Not cool.

The guy probably depends on this job to feed his family. I have no idea how people are taking the side of these players who all make millions.

tough look but no matter how good or bad any team is, these kinds of conversations are happening. Unfortunate it was the sens that were the ones "caught" on camera saying it. Guarantee guys will be a little more cautious moving forward in where they have these convos but they're still going to happen.

You're free to make a bad decision. You're not free of the consequences.

Wait, I think that Dorion should repeat that in the mirror each morning.

I agree, the players should not be talking about this stuff in public.

But, Does your point about actions having consequences not also apply here though?

This guy broadcast something out on the internet, which will in turn make his boss Uber look bad.

So really the Uber guy there is screwed releasing the tape without permission, hence it got yanked pretty quick from twitter etc. Unfortunately once it is out there it is out there.

The players should have been more mindful of talking together in a public setting but lets be honest, get together in a hotel room and someone passing in the hall could just as easily hear. Still in this day and age c'mon guys you all know to be more careful.

That said not like anything they said was really out there and would get them in crap with the league. The facts were looked up and talked about, they are readily available and most fans can and have pointed out the tire fire that is their PP and PK already. The fact the players are saying it just sort of drives the point home the coaching staff is garbage and clueless and has lost the room.

7 of 23 guys right there, all key players, save Formenton who is one of their future hopefuls are saying this is a tire fire and they are not being coached well or at all. And it is supported by the statistical evidence. Dutch, Wideman, Tierney, DeMello, Chabot... can bet the sentiment they are all saying is NOT just them too.

What will be interesting to see is what Dorion is going to do about this now that it is out there. Boucher's track record speaks for itself, and his assistant coach clearly isn't doing a damn thing, and the team is not functioning and the players while unified are clearly not too happy.

And really what can Dorion do? Fine and or trade all his core players for being upset about not being coached and losing because the systems the coaching staff have don't change and they get killed all the time?! Yeah that will work well.

Boucher and his staff are dead men walking.

i've always hated that mentality where people believe that just because others are making millions that they're not allowed to express how they really feel. the old "they should just be happy they're making millions and shut up" expression is just dumb.

the reason they make millions is because they are capable of doing something 99.9% of the people in this world can't do. they aren't being given millions for free, they earn it through elite level skill that attracts fans and generates revenue(earnings are based on how much revenue you can generate, not how hard you work). they can do this because they strive to operate at a high level.

so what they're saying is a result of the frustration of being in a poorly run franchise that hinders their progress. it demonstrates that although they're making millions, winning is still very important to them and they have the competitiveness to want to do better instead of just sitting on their millions and success. that's a mentality that most people don't have since everyone seems to say the first thing they'll do if they win the lotto is never work again. so i get that it's hard to relate to their mentality of wanting to be better but the fact remains, they're not some spoiled rich kids complaining about the world. they're complaining about how the team sucks and the coaching staff/management are doing nothing to improve.

at the core of this is the same argument that hockey fans have been making - the senators are a poorly run organization. people are siding with the players because they are saying what we've been saying for over a year.

people are not siding with the cabbie and rightfully poopting on him cuz he recorded a private conversation and released it like a jackass.
