convert to a forward and be done with it...those seem to be his instincts and his decision making and positioning as a Dman is just consistently bad...

very interesting to here eddie o calling gus out and even suggesting a benching...i don't recall he or foley calling out players like that...

Back in the day, converting defencemen to forwards was common. Sometimes very successfully too as in Red Kelly's case. And when Doug Mohns came over to us from Boston, he had great success on our Scooter Line with Wharram and Mikita. I would love to see such an experiment with Gus because he does have offensive skills. I would like to see our new coaching staff break some old molds and become more creative.

Couple thoughts....

WOW is the Blackhawks D slow/sloppy. Is Jokiharju your best defenseman now? Because he sure seemed like it. Even Keith was much slower than he used to be.

If Kane wasn't on the ice, the Hawks weren't creating much of anything. Explains why he saw 27 minutes of ice time.

Good game for Scott Darling aside from that kinda soft one from Schmaltz. Could have been a much different game if he was a little off.

After his awful 1st period, I counted 3 times in the last 40 minutes that Gus got caught up ice and left Seabs back to defend an odd man rush by himself.

Seabrook would look a hell of a lot bette4 with a competent partner.

Have you discussed this with Odduffman? Because Gus is clearly the fault of Q. Any other coach would have turned him into Scott Niedermayer quickly.

EbonyRaptor is just wrong. Seabs’ play was just fine. It is a wonder that Seabs just doesn’t give up altogether, laying down on the ice and doing snow angels. Having a stationary traffic pilon as a partner would be better than Gus as you could at least place the pilon in the D-Zone. Gus is absolutely brutal.

Gus is brutal when he is in the D-Zone. However, he combines this with creating odd-man breaks, by getting caught up ice so often, that it seems by design. On one play later in the game there was Seabs all by himself, then you saw Anisimov later - then what seemed like 5 minutes later the Mighty Gus of Wind finally appeared. Sorry but if this is what Gus is going to bring to the table he simply can’t be dressed anymore.

He does crap like that quite often. I'd like to see Edzo and Burr together. Foley also called Fortin, Kane.

Breadman why so riled? Foley makes an occasional mistake with respect to Kane, when he sees the 8 and not the 84 of Fortin. So what - I like Foley. Last night Kane was on the ice half the time so was actually a good guess. Regarding Burish - for me we may already be seeing too much of him. Sharpie is trying to give some depth to his analysis which is good because Konroyd’s analysis is pond scum deep as is Burrish’s.
