Carol Schram: Elias Pettersson scores 10th goal but Canucks fall in shootout to Red Wings Elias Pettersson continues to be the engine that drives the Vancouver Canucks, who settled for a single point after Dylan Larkin got the only goal in the shootout to give the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 win on Tuesday.

Good recap, thanks.

I have to agree with your comment that there would probably been one or two more goals had Boeser played, I can't believe how banged up this team is so early into the season.

When I was watching last night I just didn't feel like the Canucks were dominating the Redwings even though the shots were 17-7.

Also good to see Green get both challenges go the Canucks way.

Well done Carol.

Sucks that we lost and blew a 2 goal lead to a 29th place team, but with injuries games like last night are a sign of things to come.

Technically Marky let in 3 in regulation (minus disallowed goal) but we did get the Bettman-Loser-Point so all good there I guess.

I felt the Canucks ran the shot clock up in the 3rd with a hand full of low quality shots but were carrying the play in the 1st and 2nd before the Wings pressed hard in the 3rd. Still, Canucks had glorious chances in OT... they were the better team in general I thought. Howard got off easy in the shootout.

Can you send EP to play in some intergalactic hockey league? Kinda not fair to the rest of us, he makes everyone NHL look bush league.

If only the 6 million dollar man would have converted on one of his 3 quality chances. Funny thing is I did not expect him to score on any of them.

You think the guy making 6 million dollars a year is going to give an assist to the guy who doesn't even make that in 3 years? COME ON!

What about Motte and Goldobin's five shots each? If you get 5 cracks at the net in the NHL these days you better put one of those away.

Agree if you combine Motte's and Goldy's shots together. One of those ten shots has to go in. Goalies are expected to save 9/10 shots so maybe if Motte and Goldy got ten more?

Whining (being a realist) is way more fun than watching the pom pom nerds have a slap-fight over which form of analytics is more relevant.
