I thought these guys had a code about punching a guy in the head when he's down...The hit, whatever, but punching him when he's down is completely gutless. |

My take on Lucic-Joseph thing :
On the one hand, I have strongly disliked Lucic for a long time going back to his Boston days. I think he's a paper tiger and a bully. Cheap shot artist and thug at times. However, if I was an Edmonton fan, I would like what he did. That is what he is paid to do. The league should understand that if you take liberties with McDavid, you will pay a price for it. He is there to protect the talent and gets overpaid for it.
On the other hand, the Joseph hit didn't result in an injury or a penalty. I don't think Joseph was looking to hurt the guy and let's face it, Joseph is no bruiser. I don't think it was deserving of a full-scale beatdown, ala Claude Lemieux.
So, this Lightning fan's take is this : Lucic was doing Lucic things. Joseph is trying to make his mark with the Bolts and finished his check in a way that could be construed as a bit careless. Nobody got hurt, except maybe Joseph's pride by getting owned by that hulking brute Lucic.
Lightning won, so that's the important thing.

Well said. Though I was rather hoping Lucic was gonna get a suspension.

Having him in their lineup is punishment enough for Edmonton. |

If you are going to run around taking shots at guys, be perpared to drop the gloves when its time to answer the bell. Dude is a coward and backed down to Nurse and Kassian so Luc took it into his own hands. Good for him. I wish he would have slashed that clowns ankle in half. |

So is it just me or does anyone notice that all the Lightning blogs are written about all of our faults, and hardly anything on what the Lightning are kicking a$$ on?!? C'mon man...we have the best team in the East, and reading these blogs you would think that we're struggling to hold on to a wild card spot. Case in point..this blog. I see the headline that we wallop Edmonton, but hardly anything about how we were relentless on the cycle, digging out pucks, clearing shots on net, etc. All I ask is please add in some positive vibes to give us warm fuzzies. Thanks!

As someone who has watched all of Joseph's games, not just one or two, I can state that Joseph is not that kind of player. He's a rookie and I think that stretch of play was an anomaly. And, granted, I think Lucic got his point across. If I was Joseph, I wouldn't act the fool again with anyone on Edmonton's bench while Lucic is in the building.
Having said that, I don't think it warranted having his ankle slashed. Get real man. Jesus Christ.

Classy! :D
I actually didn't have all that much of an issue re: the Lucic thing.
Either way, boom- win. |

It's not you, our Blogger is a New Jersey Devils fan, I don't have a problem with him as it keeps this board alive so I hope he keeps producing content his blogs are pretty one note and for me very wordy (using a bigger word where the standard word would suffice) I have said before on here sometimes I feel like I am a TA again back in college grading a paper reading his blogs
There are a lot of other nuances to the game I think he can explore. And again, the Bolts blog is active and Sam is putting out content to talk about so I hope he continues to blog on this site but maybe change it up some. |

Wow... you would think Joesph is the next incarnation of Tom Wilson here. He should have got a 2 minute penalty on the hit to Russell but it was in no way horrible blatant shot.
I was at the game and it was chippy, I saw some Oilers fans saying Joesph took a run at McDavid but I did not see it. But I did see Leon Draisaitl clearly leave the ice and put an elbow into Brayden Point's head right in front of the Bolts bench. I don't think Leon is dirty and needs his ankle slashed in half. |

Jesus christ, I had not seen the hit on Russell until now. This is what Oilers fans are crying about? Its not like its the worst hit of the century. He doesnt use excessive force. Its not a good hit, but at the same time Russell is getting himself in a bad position.
I get that Lucic went after Joseph, its his job to be a big bad uneffective player. But to justify because of this hit is idiotic. Oilers twitter has been very entertaining the last few days. |

Yeah, Jesus, the Reaves hit on Hedman was way worse.
I saw that hit previously, but after watching it again, I don't think it was a big deal. If I was an Edmonton fan, I would be happy if Lucic got in his face with a few choice words, or gave him an invitation to drop the gloves, but to wish a serious injury on Joseph for that? Nope. |

That was a clean hit by Joseph, why Russel stayed down like he was somehow critically injured on that play is a mystery to me, trying to draw a penalty when there was nothing there.
This whole hitting from behind/boarding is spawned from the fact that players know they can just turn and face the glass and draw a penalty or they don't get hit at all.

McDonagh is a beast on the ice. Lightning have 2 legit number 1 Dman on the team. Scary how good he has been with Hedman out of the lineup. Once Hedman comes back I hope Cooper continues to give more ice time to McDonagh. 77 and 27 can both play 25 minutes a night, that is such a advantage for the Bolts going forward. |
