He's right handed and better than Ruhwedel, so yes, sure. And that gives us the depth to trade Maatta.
- YouMeAndDupuis9

Wait wait wait. We are now assuming Voynov is better than Maatta?

Honest Jim had two important comments to dissect.

First, talking about this group being together too long. That to me signals pretty big shakeup. 87, 71, 58, 30 are always off the table, imo. Still very unlikely to trade Phil. More likely, maybe the glue guys that have been here for a few years... Hornqvist, Hagelin, Cullen, Maatta.

I wouldnt mind seeing any of them getting moved as long as we are getting back speed. I love Horny but I can see an argument where he's being paid a lot to be a bottom 6 guy PP specialist.

Second comment was about young guys who got their contracts and then 'settled in'. Rust is the only guy I think makes sense in that context.

When I read that comment about young guys, I thought the same thing. Could only be talking about Rust. Maybe also a reference to Sheary last year. He got paid and his production fell off.

Hornie and Phil aren't going anywhere. I'd add him to that list. Sprong is a gonner now that ZAR is back.

Nope, im saying Maatta doesn't fit with our team. He's a lefty (which we have too many of), he's too slow for our system, and he makes too much money for what he provides.

We can't trade him now though because our depth is awful, especially with Schultz out.

Makes sense to me. Let's do it up. (Not straight up for Sprong, but yeah for Hornqvist)

It's not ideal, but it's less than what Faulk is going to get at the end of next year and we need some better jam up front than we need 3 top 4 RHD.

Is it a coincidence that all the bad trades & contract signings started when Botterill took the job in Buffalo?

I wished their would be even some kind of room for discussion regarding the next Pens (PP-)quarterback...

I didn't think that the Oleksiak and Brassard trades were all that bad.

I'm a big Hornquest fan, but when I saw his new contract I thought he had the best agent in the league.

Still think Sully is the first to go.

Some of Captain Sully's player usage and mistrust of young players is annoying. But not a chance I would want him to go, nor do I think he's even on the hot seat.

Mackey and Pensburg. The latter saying a trade for another disgruntled prospect may be on the table. ie Ho Sang. I don't see how trading a player Sully doesn't like for another one he's soon to despise helps. Ho Sang seems like the anti Sully
- Thorny87

I heard him or Valentin Zykov. I kind of wonder if he is trying to do a package deal for someone.
