quotes not working.
I think the teams the ones poster mentioned (LA & CAR in particular) do make sense. I just don't think Phil is traded. I mentioned this on the Pens board but I could see Hornqvist, Hagelin, Maatta, Sprong on the table for a shake-up.
Potentially Brassard too but the optics would look too bad if we trade him for much less than what we gave away. I'd hope we just ride out Brassard this year and have the un-matchable depth down the middle.
Gauging what PIT needs is a little difficult. Technically we need a RHD but will be fine once Shultz comes back. PIT, in my opinion, would be looking for middle-six LW and/or middle pair D-man, with emphasis on speed/skill/youth.

Kessel back to Toronto for Nylander.
Pens retain 50% of the Thrill's salary.
???? nylander is going to get paid more than kessel is now so that aint happening..... - nyislsbossy
No thanks...enjoyed Phil when he was here for the most part BUT not interested in a second stint...we have enough defensive issues so at times so no need for Phil to come around again and make it worse |

Its not a role he succeeds in. Boston and Toronto tried to shoe-horn that part into his game. Didn't work out for either. |

100%. Hes perfect for Pittsburgh. One of the best wingers in the game who can pot in 25 goals minimum a year. |

Still hung up on the pre Mathews days. All Kessel did since arriving in Pitt
Lead the team in scoring for the playoffs - Cup win and should have won the Conn Smythe
Second in playoff scoring and another cup
second in regular season and career high in pts
You don't get him for his 200 foot game. If you think that, you are dreaming. You get him to net pts and score goals.
Time was not right in Toronto - not going to happen but I would bet if Kessel came back to Toronto now, people will easily forget Willy whats his name. - Revised12
You're gone a little too deep for me there bud. I'm just crackin a joke. I don't hate Phil...never did. Phil is a cool cat!

Since the GM on the Pittsburgh side is Rutherford, look for something to come of this. He is one of the finest Hockey traders in the business. He makes moves that you can step back from and see how both sides wanted to make the deal.
I can see Kessel going to either Carolina, LA, Anaheim or San Jose. Why? They have things that the Penguins need. Puck moving defensemen who can take care of the defensive part of the job description...and they have enough of them that they would be willing to make a trade.
In the Kings case, the trade would be a serious horse trade/culture shift....cause I could see Doughty for Kessel plus happening.
I can see Kessel to the Ducks, but not 100% who is coming back.
Phil will add speed and offense to any team he is dealt too...but he will not add much in the way of two way play. - wbon22
Why does everyone jump straight to Doughty from LA? He isn’t going anywhere especially not for Kessel, kings don’t need him that badly. Although their offense does suck! The Dmen the kings are looking at possibly trading are Muzzin and Martinez. Why in the world would the kings trade a top 3 player in Doughty?

Not sure i'd call 20 in 14 "almost 2 points a game". It's closer to 1 than 2. |
