Glad lou wasted a 2nd on him last season. - Fakepartofme
The leafs are an injury away from Lindholm being the 2nd line center.
You are doomed if that happens in the playoffs. And when you are a gm and your goal is to win then it makes sense. |

He signed the contract as a 35+er, so the Habs won't get any cap relief.
Makes you wonder why they are doing this.
Why not just demote him and make him not report? Tell him to keep in shape, just in case they need to call him up for the playoffs?
Or ask him to go down to (wherever in the frank your farm club is now) and get him to work with the kids for 6 months? - Atomic Wedgie
Why not just send him home, keep paying out the contract and wish him the best? Unless, of course, there's a front office/coaching job waiting for him after the contract expires, but that seems unlikely. |

Actually, I really would expect Plekanec to be employed by the Habs in some fashion. |

If it's mutual agreement to termination, then the Habs will save actual money (about 2 million) - still to be determined if they get cap relief. |

I'm convinced they're gonna announce he's joining management.
I have no idea how it affects cap space and it doesn't really matter as the Habs have plenty/ won't add much until maybe a ufa this summer. |

Why would he willingly agree to give up that money? Being over 35 I thought there is no cap relief there?
The only benefit I see is if he agrees to the AHL then it opens a contract slot. That's it. |

Usually you're right, we're wondering if that applies when it's a termination by mutual agreement. |

I still don't understand why he would be willing to give up that much money. There would have to be one hell of a promise to him for later service if that was the case. |

Yeah, makes sense.. Boston played like poop last night, giving up 8 goals. So it's guaranteed shutout night for Rask/Halak tomorrow night |
