Was Wheeler gone???? I thought his 17 points in 14 games was impressive enough, but if adding a 4 point night is what it takes to get noticed, i guess he's back.....

He was absolutely horrible at 5 on 5 before this last game.
Visibly slower, losing battles all over the ice, and only 3(?) even strength points in 13 games. That, and his underlying numbers had him as the worst player on the team. Wheeler’s line was allowing two goals against for every one goal scored at the 12 game mark, and his Corsi was around 25% when without Scheifele. He just looked wrong, and couldn’t seem to do anything.

Last night was a total 180, both in terms of his nerd numbers, and the thing where he just looked infinitely better in every way. That rest period saved Wheeler. It might also be the pirate stache, but it’s probably the healing time.

I don't disagree here. Something has been off and either it was injury or just some weird malaise. It reminded me of 2011-16 Wheeler where he really didn't get rolling until mid to late November.

Remember in like 2012 where he would fall and lose the puck every third shift? He’s a weird kind of late bloomer because the only two things to change since then are his skating being under control, and his vision being cranked up to 11

I was at the game last night - Wheels was just fine and he didn't get 4 pts - he got 5

Something changed ... as mentioned - injury or malaise - whatever

That was a good win last night ... let's see how they bring it tomorrow

It's weird that Peter is responding to his own alter ego.

Even if he does, he like Petan and Roslovic have to earn Maurice's trust. He will probably get about 7 minutes.

I am not a psychiatrist. That is a question only a mental health professional can answer.
