Moose was stellar in this game........Still too many breakdowns on the D end, played a little loose but great to see a goalie make those timely saves to bail them out, Earlier it seemed any mistake ended up in the net. |

Its ridiculous, I understand why they do it: to create a contrived parity and give a number of teams the illusion of being in the position to make the playoffs. Ive always hated it and advocated for a 3pt regulation, 2pt OT/SO, 1pt OT/SO loss format.
Hand it to the NHL for doubling down on the stupid and instituting even worse playoff format. |

Two top teams in the metro have negative goal diffs. Bit of change from last year.
And I just can’t stand the black uni’s. Can’t even see the numbers |

It is indeed a strange, new world.
Well, Uncle Gary wanted parity, he got parity. Personally, I kind of miss the days when there were 5 or 6 really good teams, 5 or 6 sh!t teams and the rest somewhere in the middle, but oh well.

Those goal differentials can be skewed a bit from just 1 or 2 blow outs.
I absolutely LOVE the black uniforms! Although I agree the numbers are harder to see. |

It will be interesting to see what the Metro standings look like on the morning of Dec. 1st. We should be evened up on games played with Pittsburgh.

Certainly can be. The Flyers giving up 17 PP GA to this point doesn't help.

Schedule gets more interesting now:
Tues 11/13 vs FLA
Another team that has struggled some this year. Again, these are the games you need to win to be a playoff team. I would expect, with 2 full days off, that Elliott gets the start in goal.
Thurs 11/15 vs NJD
Even though the Devils have been a meh team this season, they always give the Flyers fits. This will be a tough test and although you would expect Elliott to get this start as well, it will be getting near the time to give him a night off especially with Tampa coming in only 36 hours later. My guess is Pickard gets the start here.
Sat afternoon 11/17 vs TB
No doubt about it, this will be a test. Hopefully JVR can return for this one though he'll likely be rusty. Elliott will need to bring his "A" game for them to pull this one out.
Weds 11/21 @ BUF
The Sabres are a young, speedy team that is playing pretty well so far this season. This will not be an easy game. I would expect Elliott to get the start. Also, if he hasn't already returned, I would expect JVR back for this one.
Friday, 11/23 vs NYR
This is the usual Black Friday afternoon game and it will be interesting to see if they go with Elliott here or decide to give him the day off. Either way, the Flyers usually seem to struggle on Black Friday, but the Rags are a team that they need to beat
Sat 11/24 @ TOR
This will be really tough test and the Flyers must stay out of the box here or they will be toast. I expect that Pickard or whomever is the other goalie by now will have gotten the start against the Rags the day before and that Elliott gets the start here.
Tues 11/27 vs OTT
Another game you'd really want to and expect to win. The Flyers have a habit of blowing these type of games, that needs to stop. I would expect Elliott to get the start.
So there you go, 7 games between now and the 12/1 matchup with the Pens. IF they can find a way to go no worse than 4-2-1 through this upcoming stretch, they will be 13-9-2 at the end of November. That should leave them in pretty good shape.

Nice! Only 2 Metro match ups though. Wouldn’t it be something to see a Lyon vs King Henry on the 23rd. Hi, Hexy |

Florida is near the bottom of the conference, but they have won 3 in a row and have played 3-4 games less than everyone else. I don't expect it to be a cake walk.
I see JvR returning against Buffalo on the road.
Wouldn't doubt if Matthews returns against the Flyers.
Should be a good test of games for the team. |

I think the subtle thing about the last couple of games (even with Pickard not have a great outing) was that the Flyers have, while allowing more shots kept them to the saveable variety and not the "this is going in the net" type of chances that they have given up frequently this season.
Provorov and Hagg look good together...which means they will probably be broken up.
Patrick looked VERY good.
Getting JVR back will be a big boost. |

The team defense has improved. The defensive pairings have built some chemistry. I don’t really see changing it unless they regress or there is an injury to a defenseman.

Folin has been surprisingly adequate. His RH helps for sure. At this point there is no spot for amac. Hagg/Provorov is a frustrating pairing right now but I’m hoping Provorov breaks out of this funk |
