Yep- very good.
I also think the Jets 5 v 5 shooting percent is about to start regressing back to where it should be. |

Yeah they've been getting more 5v5. Buffalo will be a test as well. They are playing pretty well. |

You know...while at the Friday game I noticed that Laine is nothing more than a pylon when facing 5v5.
I know he's young and has lots to learn...but when asked what he worked on this summer, he answered that he didn't like putting skates on in the off season.
This kid has completely lost his mojo...after being concussed he seems like a different player (yes I realize he is an awesome pp star, but a one trick pony for a second overall pick???)
Personally I think he could use 3-4 summers of a Gary Roberts style camp to whip him into game shape! |

If I were Laine i’d call up the Sedins and ask them how they did it. They were iffy skaters at first and changed. |

After reading your comment I really don't believe you know much about hockey. |

There was a mixed message in Maurice's response to reporters concerning the Byfuglien hit on Boyle. On one hand it was a clean hit by all definitions of what a clean check is, however, on the other hand Maurice voiced an understanding that there is an adjustment to be made by the players to not make hits like that in the future and that the league has an obligation to discourage hits like that. Is this the next nail in the coffin for hitting in hockey? Physical strength and battling for position/possession is becoming a thing of the past. |

Yeah. Until he got thrown in the line blender, Laine was showing massive improvement across the board. He was doing everything but putting the puck in the net. Then it went all wonky when Mo Mo’d the lines up, and now he’s good again with Lowry. |

Myers has not been on the power play in the last 5 games. This post illustrates how much you watch the games. - TheUltimateJet
I was at the last game, ace. I’m referring to the impending Mo-panic move where he sets everything back to how he had it for game 1. It’s why Morrissey is off the top unit, Lowry is still with Tanev, and Niku isn’t playing |

I don't see the two as being mutually exclusive. How could eliminating hits to the head be anything but good. Ask Marc Savard..... |

Concerning hits to the head I totally agree, however, this wasn't a hit to the head - just a huge collision. |

It was a “2 minutes for being a coke machine on skates” call |

Two items to address (and I was at both games on the weekend):
1. The Byf hit & PoMo comments - Byf hit was shoulder to shoulder (LoL - Boyle's on IR now, BTW) ... PoMo was referring to changes in enforcement of changing rules - - I've already seen this in Minor & High School Hockey - - furthering the desire to protect players, refs will call the big shoulder to shoulder hits ... they may call them "head shots" when they're not ... wether they should or shouldn't do this is a second discussion
2. The line blender - said it before and I'll take my lumps on this board for saying it again - I don't like the line juggling ... Connor should be back with Wheels and Scheifs and Copp should definitely be back with Lowry & Tanev ... the issue is individual play/contribution from Laine (for sure - he looked f_ckin lost v Devils), Ehlers (still doesn't finish well once he gets across the blue line), and Petan (still plays like he's in Junior) ... some guys need some coaching-up ... and - I want Roslo to play the minutes at centre early in the season
Ok - have at me !

Connor needs to be away from Scheifele and Wheeler so we can know what we have before signing a new deal. He’s looked dangerous, but likely can’t carry a line alone.
Copp is a better C than Petan, Roslovic, or anyone else that night centre line 4, so he should stay there and cover for 28 and 19
Petan and Roslovic have looked great together, and are both ideally paired right now. Petan has been creating all kinds of missed chances for Copp since he’s been with him. Petan will inevitably be blamed for his linemates scoring woes. Roslovic is not even close to ready as a centre, but he’s an excellent winger.
Ehlers has been dominant since he’s been moved to the top line, so that’s fine.
Laine has been fine, will continue to be fine, and needs to not be talked about any more. Honestly, Petan-Lowry-Laine is the best match for all 3 players involved. Let’s Tanev play with Copp and Roslovic |

I would like to see Petan, Roslovic and Laine as I think their skill would be an exciting 3rd line. |

my take on the lines,
-connor has been great and has been carrying Perreault and little, more than ehlers ever could. and yes, sometimes perreault needs to be carried to.
-Lemieux better not go back in!
-tanev looks worse without copp on his line
- I hate that Roslovic cant play more but where?
-you'll never get four lines playing 13 + min each, never but worth trying
so with all that;
29-55-26
81-18-28
27-17-85
19-9-13
this is the line up i'd like to see

Laine is gonna snipe 45 goals this year, and yet I agree with you. He is probably 7/8th best player on this team. Many noticeable issues when not on the PP. Useless 5v5 and is one of the worst possession players in the game. On one hand, his upcoming contract is scary to think about, however, he does have serious room to further improve his game. Tough call, but I like that he has been sent down to the Lowry/Tanev line and gets 1st PP. Definitely utilizing him as he should be. I am still surprised Chiarot is on the top pairing........ |

Laine has been tried with Scheifele and Wheeler and has shown he does not work there. Interestingly people on this board seem to forget that Laine played his best when Copp was centering him, prior to Stastny's arrival.
Ehlers looks great with Scheifele and Wheeler and I would not touch that. Connor is proving what I have talked about all season, he has high hockey IQ and I believe he can carry his own line. |

Petan and Roslovic are still working on getting Maurice's trust. Talking about putting Laine with them is crazy talk. |
