For the first 2 periods they don't play. After the game the players say the same thing.. we need to play for 60 minutes.. WTF will this change? How does it change?

Another 2 periods of low effort.

Another game with a PK goal against.

Rinse. Wash. Repeat.

Sigh 😔

It wont.

And the GM wont do anything to change any of this.

This is the same GM who said after last season things would change, related to the PK.

He then proceeded to change nothing in relation to the PK.

Sigh 😔

I thought the first 8-10 minutes of this game were much better from the Flyers than the same span in the Chicago game, actually. At least in terms of defensive play and puck support (there wasn't a lot of pressure being generated, though). Thereafter, Florida was the better team until the third period. At any rate, that's not enough nor is one goal.

I normally wouldn’t come here to promote a podcast, but Bill was kind enough to take the time (the 2nd half of the show) so I’ll post the link https://soundcloud.com/is...t-episode-33-bill-meltzer It’s also available on iTunes and 3 other formats. Thanks!

Someone in the previous thread posted that they were at almost the same record as last year at this time. And that this is about when the 10 game losing streak started.

Thinking about that this year if they don't want trouble they can't go on a 5-7 game pointless streak or that could be very bad. As Hak said recently they just need to keep from getting into a losing trend of more than 2 games.

The Flyers lost a 2-1 game in regulation? Their first regulation loss in what, 2 weeks?

I thought they were playing pretty well for the first 10-12 minutes of the first, but struggled late in the period. In the 2nd they were clearly outplayed by Florida.

That being said, special teams aside, they’ve been playing pretty well the last few weeks. I’m not going to overreact to one 2-1 loss.

Oh, for sure. But when they go through those stretches where they have no offensive push and the other team just pots a couple on them, seemingly quite easily, it's hard to watch.

The penalties kill this team because they either give up a goal or lose all momentum. Getting van Reimsdyk back should help bring some more offense.

Also did anyone see Laughton got put in the middle and Weal was moved out? Just like we said yesterday, so I can see that happening Thursday if JVR is back.

The one thing I am starting to worry about is Provorov just is having too many seemingly down games. He just doesnt look right and there is no way this team can make a playoff run without him playing like a top pair player.

I am not saying it is the end of the world.

It is the apathy that I am struggling with. This product is just not fun to watch.

Not trying to upset any of you on here, as by the comments above it, looks like I have. I was simply stating how I see things.

The purpose of sports is to be entertained. Are you entertained? Was that a fun game to watch?

Assuming Provy isn’t playing with an injury, maybe a night or two in the press box will wake him up? I have to think that he and Coots weren’t 100% going into the season. Maybe Provy’s still a bit banged up.

Aside from the skaters’ lack of motivation in the middle 30 minutes of the game, I thought Elliott was really good. Luongo is a fantastic goalie and kept us from sending that game into OT or winning it outright in the 3rd.

It was painful to watch.

It was anything but entertaining. The fans acknowledged as much by their reaction to it.

For me, yes I was entertained. I love hockey, I love the nuances of the game. Why does every game have to be a goal or fight fest.

Also, what is going on with our shooting accuracy? I can’t stand hearing JJ say, “He shoots... and it goes high and wide of the net” over and over again.

Of our 72 attempted shots, 22 missed the net completely. That’s 30.5% off the mark. So, almost a third of our shots. I know that hockey is a tough game, and hitting a moving piece of frozen rubber while being chased down or bumped around isn’t easy, but can we please get back to basics and have these guys do some target practice??

I draw the line. We're keeping Hatcher!
