Looks like I was wrong. Wilson did, in fact, not like the trade very much.

Part of me feels that if their production continues to be the same in their new environments then I'd rather have Hags for his speed, tenacity, defensive work and PKing....if Pearson can start lighting the lamp, well, thats a different story.

How do you think Horny feels today with his bestie getting shipped?

Hahaha You werent the only one that thought that. I also got a "lol wut?" response...
But sucks to say but I knew he wouldnt be happy with it... Like he says "status quo" apparently. Hes gonna have his usual defenders but status quo does NOT seem like he liked the trade to me. Neither does that blog.

I personally think its a really good trade.

Well if their production stays the same, I'd rather have Hagelin for the sole reason that he only has one year of term left.

Saw some Hornqvist quotes on twitter. Said this was a really hard day for his family. Seems shook.

I agree. Hags is a player that some won't realize his impact until he's gone. I hope TP can get his game back.

I don't think this trade moves the needle that much, but I only see upside in it.

It's a good "shake up" deal......which this team desperately needs. More is coming IMO.

Let's hope some adjustments are made by the coach too.

Well maybe they should ship Horn out to LA as well and send back Martinez or Muzzin hahaha

This is exactly the type of move(s) I was alluding toward. It’s a fresh start, fresh face, new energy, etc...

The moves the Pens should he making don’t necessarily need to be an upgrade. They need to jolt the lineup.

That being said, they need one or two upgrades on the 4th.

I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Pens bring Hagelin back next season if he does a $2Mish contract.

I'm all in on BINGO's Hornqvist for Faulk proposal. I think a move like that could actually save the season and set us up well for next season.

I also disagree with “quality of teammates is similar” from the blog. I’m just going off top of my head here but I’d think over the last 2 years hags most common would be malkin and kessel. For Pearson it would be toffoli and carter? Personally I think the “quality” of malkin and kessel isn’t similar to carter and toffoli. But I guess as the blog states some would disagree which is fine.

The other upside of this trade I think Wilson ignores intentionally is the pens have scored 53 goals and the kings have scored 34..... Malkin 21 points Kessel 19 points. Carter 10, Toffoli 9 and kempe 3 points... (added kempe as well as last blog feds said he was a most common line mate and I didn’t look it up) Id say that’s a huge upside to this trade for Pearson.

Pearson is going to wear number 14 per pens site.

No joke, I’m actually very surprised that he wasn’t happier with the trade. On paper it looks exactly like a trade he would propose, as feds said an expiring over 30 asset for a 26 year old with term.

This has some risk reward with it too. Hagelin is probably the more useful player if neither are scoring.

However it is no secret that Hagelin has hands like feet, and its been that way his entire career. If Pearson can actually direct the puck in in the garbage areas, he could generate more tangible offense when both are scoring.

Also if Pearson is washed up, Pens are committed 2 more years.

Right? Wasn't he super into the Perron-Hagelin and Scuderi-Daley trades? This is pretty in line with those. And he's been the only person to beat the trade Hornqvist drum louder than me the past couple of seasons for similar scenarios as this trade. I get the feeling that Wilson's developed fatigue over this era of Penguins hockey.

I would.....he kinda sucks.

I have no clue on Pearson, but they're gonna need more help to stop the ship from sinking.

Another benefit of this trade: the Notre Dame alumns on this team now outnumber the Michigan alumns 2-0.

What would it take to bring nylander in? I know we'd need to clear up a fair amount of cap room. What kind of offers is Toronto getting on him?

Hornquist + pick get it done?

If Lou was still there maybe, but I don't think we can get one on Dubas like that. I think we'd have to start with Letang, which would be idiotic for us.

Maybe Maatta,Rust,Sprong and first? Doubtful though I just don't think we have the pieces to give up for that deal
