You think they should go after a rental? I would like something more permanent.

If they make playoffs im good with either. The cap space should be utilized to make something happen too

One option I was looking at is Jake Muzzin. Would not be a pure rental and I'm pretty sure he plays top defense with Doughty in LA.

Would 2 2nd rd picks be enough? Don't know.

The thing about a rental is I don't want the left side of the defense to be a problem year after year burning assets for a quick fix.

Trading 1st and 2nd round picks is what got the team in this mess.

Habs should be in the market for picks, not giving them away. They are not good enough to mortgage future assets... and just to make the playoffs is a dumb reason to give any up.

Yup

The first this year should be off limits, unless a world class prospect is coming back the other way

Do not trade picks. Cannot stress this enough. This team is more than one player away from being a legitimate contender. Keep building the prospect pool. There is a best way to build a cup winner and that is through the draft. Stockpile assets

What do you propose to fix the defense? It could be a problem for the next few years.

You guys can't beat Buffalo, nobody can.

They are, apparently, some secondary scoring away from being legit.

How long are you are willig to wait? 5 or 6 years? Because the top prospects this season in the draft are not defensemen. Habs do not have any good prospects that can play on the left side on defense. It take years to develop a defenseman.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. How long?

Who cares.

Let them build assets until they have a solid roster, then if needed, trade prospects and picks for what you need.

Why pick up a player now when thye are not needed for 3-4 years from now?

Start tradign away picks and assets and you end up with a poopshow that is the Edmonton Oilers

Well they did keep their picks. They made some bad trades after.

I think they are better up front then you give them credit for. Weber and a top defenseman could go a long way.

I would prefer to get a young top LHD, so he can play in mtl for years, but the price would be higher.

Edmonton can't draft, that's why they are in that mess.

I'm saying the Habs will shop for a top 4 LD because why wouldn't they. You never know who's available and at what cost unless you're constantly shopping around. It's when news breaks you are that get the vultures circling and the offers pouring in. If the Canadiens could acquire a solid top 4 LD for a 2nd round pick, AND they were playing playoff hockey, I would bet they are looking for the best possible deal for that 2nd round pick.

Right or wrong in either of our eyes, it is likely what will happen. It could end up being a deal that works out for years for the team, depends on who's coming back.

Looks like CHI and ARZ are making a significant trade.

MB must be pissed, as he is no longer the #1 guy to get Hawks players.
