Ek, I love that you’re covering the Islanders, thanks for all the extra effort!

I would love a move like this!!

But I’d also love to see a move for a Dman

Why would you want to surrender that much to a division team when you can land this guy as a ufa? Like trading JT to TOR when TOR knew they could get him for no assets. True Trotz and Lou want to improve the team for this year but their first priority is getting the top two centers to play at a high level without worrying about Panarin getting top minutes. So I say it is less likely unless Panarin signs on first else he is a likely UFA for some other team with marquee lights in a big city.

Great. If they do trade for Panarin, there is no chance of him resigning in the summer. We'll have to listen to every Isle fan moan about Panarin being a snake for not resigning with them.
Its funny. Isles fans have no problem signing other teams free agents.

Only if he signs. Can't lose out on him and the pick (a potential Top 10).

The calendar flips to December soon, let's see the Isles continue to play under Trotz.

BTW........sign LEE before 2019!

This is the stupidest post I've ever read.

No team in the Islanders position should be trading first round picks. They're a fun team and I love how much heart they have. But they're not particularly good. Even with Panarin, this team isn't winning the cup this year.

Not to mention: you have the chance to get him in July for nothing but money. This really is a dumb idea for the Islanders. They need to hold their first round picks.

I like the idea of getting him, but...firsts are gold, and take the chance of getting him in July without losing anything, plus word out of Columbus is they may just ride him into the playoffs and deal rights after for a mid round pick.

Which of course makes the most sense. The Blue Jackets are playing well, only a point out of first place. Why would they want to trade Panarin for a draft pick and/or prospects? I understand not wanting to lose assets for nothing, but it happens to every team, especially successful teams. If the Blue Jackets falter, and are out of the playoff hunt by the trade deadline, then we have a totally different situation.

I don't think anyone had an issue with Toronto signing pajama boy. The issues were with pajama boy himself stringing the Isles along, knowing he was going to go to TOR. And if they did pull off a trade for Panarin and he left after the season, I wouldn't have issues with him. Lou would need to ensure that he would sign before pulling the trigger on that deal.

No way I give up a #1 or a big prospect unless Panarin is signed.

My issue was largely with Snow for believing that pj boy would return Snow's loyalty. Snow seemed to think that all he had to do was kiss pj boy's arse for 9 years, and that's what it would take for pj boy to re-sign. He should have seen the hand-writing on the wall in the summer of 2017 when pj boy refused to re-sign, then even more clearly when the new arena was announced, and pj boy STILL refused to re-sign.

100%. If a deal were to happen I would be shocked if it were without a deal in place.

That would be great, but last season Wilson avoided fighting Johnston. I'm guessing that Wilson will continue to run away........ for his own health.

yup that's my guess. hopefully it will be unavoidable. they did have a scuffle that got broken up last year before the one where he ran away like a female dog, but the stripes basically saved him from a beating.

i recall when evander kane knocked matt cooke out with one punch. wouldnt that be something?

Or, a smart GM would tank, get Hughes and then sign Panarin (or a player like him) on the FA market for free

Then you get Hughes AND Panarin and it costs you nothing

But, you COULD trade your 1st for Panarin, and then let Panarin walk for nothing.... THAT would be Sooooo Islanders

A smart GM would tank and incur the massive risk of not being awarded the first overall pick in the lottery? Not sure I agree with that.

When you don't have a JT or Panarin on the team you are waving that huge potential salary in the faces of your top 6 and saying playing up to your potential and the money could be yours.

No, a team lacking talent like the Isles do should not trade their first rounder for a UFA.

I agree, but it's a moot point. I don't believe Columbus is seriously looking to move Panarin.......not when they're one point out of first place in the division.
