greedy owners just couldnt turn down 21 mil each, so the league is going to get even more watered down.

If it was up to MLSE they would get rid of all Canadian teams so they could get the revenue from the whole country then tell everyone if it wasn't for them the NHL wouldn't exist.

I think I like the Renegades.

Sounders are already in Seattle, so the Sound are out. Whalers are too synonymous with Hartford.

Or instead of Firebirds, how about Seattle Thunderbirds? Anything but the Metropolitans. That's just stupid.

call them the Seattle WhiteHawks
- The_Price_is_right

The Kansas City Scouts were going to be named the Hawks but Chicago objected and put an end to that. Can't imagine WhiteHawks going over any better....

Disagree. Yes the province is huge and they have a lot of people. The trouble is, these people are most likely already Leaf fans and are unlikely to change their fan allegiance. You would most likely sell out every game (because Ontario loves their hockey) but would struggle to develop a strong fan base for these 2 new teams.

Case in point - the Devils came to NJ and most hockey fans were already either a Rags, Isles or Flyers fan, therefore hurting NJ's ability to draw a large fan base. To this day each of these 3 teams mentioned has a larger fan base than NJ. Me personally - I dropped the Isles and started rooting for the Devils in 1982, but I would be hard pressed to think many Leafs fans would switch to one of these new proposed teams....especially now when a Cup may be in sight.

Exactly my point. The tri-state area incorporates many teams in it including 2 of the top 5-6 teams in revenue. Philadelphia only has 1.5-2 million people, but their territory is much greater than that.

The expansion team Seattle is near what big Canadian City? Are Canuck fans worried it is going to hurt their revenue?

out of this list, i'd go with firebirds, but i think thunderbirds is more appropriate.

like the Senators?

Thunder Bay ain't getting a team and neither is Hamilton.

- Fountain-San

If you remove every metropolitan area within a 100 mile radius of Toronto, there just isn't a metropolitan area in Ontario big enough.

Some will say London, Ontario, but no, it just isn't big enough (less an a half a million) and it has no corporate presence.

Nothing else even comes close.

It's outside of a 100 mile radius of Vancouver.

Do you have a point here?

Since Seattle is close to Canada, Trump will get involved and have it called the Seattle Wall.

IMO, right off the hop, I'd go with King County rather than Seattle. That on it's own would give the team some swag.
