Randy Carlyle wins the NHL award for head coach with the strangest skull/hair formation.

Honorable mention goes to Barry Trotz.

I like Trotz. He's very gerbil-esque.

Tanking as a strategy - when the players hit the ice they are not thinking about 'tanking' so that the team can get higher draft picks that can take the players jobs away more easily. The propaganda around here is very sub par.

How the hell does DCat only get 10:10 TOI, while Perlini gets 13:40 and Kampf gets 13:31?

DCat has been one of the team's leading scorers both this and last season, and he also gives one of the most consistent efforts.

JC does not know what he's doing. Can we end this prank now and get an NHL coach please?

Agreed. Fans that like the idea of tanking is jabroni stuff IMO. People seem to think it's an automatic guarantee you'll get the "best" player in the draft.

What does that say about you as a fan if you want your team to lose for some unknown talent? Soft.

Also...no player should want to tank, and if they do, I don't want them on my team.

Our competition again like in 14 is LA, Blues with Devils mixed in for a good measure. Blues are decimated with injuries as usual so as their players come back they are likely to get a few wins which will leave us, LA and maybe Devils as a wildcard horse in the race for the bottom. Should be entertaining. Games are boring material but they have been this way from 2016, whatever coach was in charge. This team has not played truly entertaining hockey giving 100% effort at least in regular season from maybe 2013, with a few games during circus trip in 2016 mixed in, a year when Panarin was signed and tried to hit rookie bonus.

Adb even got a goal that game!! He's a top 6 in my book. Panini on the other hand, is not. I like Strome more than him so far.

Tanking is a front office thing, and it's real. Think Edmonton, Buffalo, and Leafs recently with a consensus generational talent in McDavid at the top of the draft, Matthews' draft as well.

Ironically, the Blackhawks' front office isn't tanking intentionally and I sincerely believe that they thought this horribly constructed poop show of a roster was a one year wonder minor league coach away from playoff contention. Let that sink in...

Limit his production so he signs a bridge deal instead of 5x7 or something like that.

Or they know he's a keeper so they are giving othet guys a look to see if there is anything there.

JC tried them together one game and it wasn't pretty- I think Kane and Strome were -4, DeBrincat -3.

This is what I've been saying since the Q firing.

Nothing against Colliton, because the Hawks have put him in a terrible position to succeed, but that move made no sense to me.

Bowman scouting the Kings heavily, lord help us. Please god don't mortgage the future to make this team win an extra 4 games.

This was the best from that article!

29. If you’re unfamiliar with the “Chelsea Dagger” controversy in Vancouver, a new in-arena DJ played the song during a Canucks game a week ago. Fans went apoplectic, considering the ferocity of the 21st-century Chicago/Vancouver rivalry. The crazy thing about this is that when Alexandre Burrows scored to eliminate the Blackhawks in overtime of their 2011 Game 7 classic, there were people in the organization who wanted to play the song, rubbing it in Chicago’s face. GM Mike Gillis fought against it. I didn’t cover that series, but heard the rumour later in those playoffs. I asked Gillis if it was true. He wouldn’t answer.

The whole front office is a mess. Shovel Face and Bowman should be fired yesterday. Rocky will never do it. He has been hood winked into believing that a tank and a high pick will fix this mess.

Season ticket holders are fed up. The tickets are too expensive. The Hawk Clix Tix site now allows you to sell your tickets down to $100. Before it was face or above. Check the resale sites out, and see the prices. The Hawks are really not that far off from 12000 crowds again.

-29th overall and only 1 point ahead of St Louis and they have three games in hand
-currently on a 5 game losing streak
-2nd worse in the league in GA only behind the putrid ottawa senators

So much to be excited about!

Blow it up already, mercy killing needed

An article yesterday just listed the Hawks as the 4th most valuable team in the NHL - at just a tad over $1B. So no, Rockwell isn’t really feeling any pain yet from this McD/Stan-orchestrated slow-motion cluster truck. We’ll see what happens...

These Forbes numbers are through last season, so we'll have to guess at how the current on-ice performance affects them going forward.

For those who think McD will be let go - Forbes is out with its NHL values update.

Chicago is 4th in Team Value ($1.05 Billion, up 5% over last year) and Operating Income ($57 million).

The top of the list in value are still the Original 6 teams:

NYR - 1.55 billion
Toronto - 1.45 billion
Montreal - 1.3 billion
Chicago - 1.05 billion
Boston - 925 million

Detroit is #8 - 775 billion

At the bottom:
Columbus - 320 million and operating loss of (1.7 million)
Florida - 295 million and operating loss of (21 million)
Arizona - 290 million and operating loss of (11 million)

Overall, average operating income is $25 million per team; average value is $630 million (up 7% overall last season)

League is doing well financially; Hawks are at the top; Rocky is pleased.

This was curious too after the utter failures of Savy and Graham as fresh coaches.

Hitchcock was out there. But now Yeo and McClelland are free.

I totally agree but things change quick. I am sure the ratings are awful and the interest in the team is heading lower as well. That being said where does the value of the team go?

I think the entire coaching staff is out of its mind. I’ve been referencing the word “professional” lately and this coaching staff seems clueless and totally unprofessional. I’ve actually thought can we have a do-over?

"The Chicago Blackhawks have been out scouting heavily. Their ‘Cap-ologist’ traveled with them on their last road trip. GM Stan Bowman scouted the Coyotes-Kings, two scouts watched Kings-Canucks, three at Stars-Flames, and two watched Kings-Oilers."
