If it's for Seabrook, I'll drive one to the airport, and pick up the other.

Cant see a one for one deal, but who knows. Damn this team is a train wreck.

Dale said firing Savvy was the hardest thing he ever had to do.

Z refreshed my memory about Savvy. He actually wasn’t that bad. It’s just that we such a string of unforgettables like Alpo, Molleken, Hartsburg that they blended into one another. My fear is Colliton will be along those lines rather than a Keenan, Sutter, Q type.

There's a different type of player/player mindset these days that can't handle tough coaching. It was evident when Rangers players went to the front office to have Torts removed.

Even JR says that the new wave of NHL wouldn't be able to handle old-school guys - which is a bummer because that's exactly what this team needs IMO.

Q didn't want to play the coddling game and I respect him for that.

Collitin has probably committed career suicide by being attached to this crew.

JC will be fine. I doubt he is still with the team for the start of the 2020-21 season. I think he'll start next season but if he makes it through, he's probably fired the day after the season ends that year.

Then he gets a job as an AHL head coach or an NHL assistant. Does that for 10 or so years and then gets another shot at a HC job. He wins a Cup. Blackhawks fans get upset that they fired him a decade earlier.

I agree. I'd gladly put up with 1 1/2 seasons of Sam (I am) Gagner if it meant the Hawks got out from under the Seabrook contract.

I'm sure there would be other pieces involved and probably some salary retention but, if Seabrook was willing to waive his NMC..

This was my whole point about JC from the beginning!

Again, nothing against the guy, but one year in the AHL and some experience in the Euro league, does not equate to an NHL head coach position. I always thought you had to work your way up and take your lumps as an assistant, learn the ropes, understand the NHL-level, player mindset, business side, etc., etc...

They threw JC to sharks when they fired a (beloved) future HoF coach in Q and replaced him with JC.

For me the on ice trainwreck isn't fun to watch at all. I do agree it isn't surprising. What I do enjoy is watching most of the posters here making bizzare trade ideas, blaming everyone and anyone for the team's problems and one guy claiming the cap isn't difficult to manage. I'm waiting for some of these posters to jump off the ledges they are precarliously perched on.

Compare NYR with the Hawks. The Rangers replace Sather with a younger GM and then write a letter to season ticket holders telling them they are going to rebuild and start by moving out veterans like McDonagh, JT Miller, Girardi and others and collecting draft picks and youth. Lunqvist is the only one spared. Then they dump AV at the end of the season and bring in a long time college coach. The team has been an exciting surprise to their fans this year. They won't make the playoffs but pretty good to watch.

The Hawks do the opposite by signing retread FA's in the offseason and try to convince their season seat holders they are good enough to make the playoffs. The on ice product is terrible to watch further annoying the fans. Somebody got it wrong. Can narrow that down to a couple of names and one of them is not Quennville.

They maybe threw him to the sharks, but I'm willing to bet they had a conversation with him about it first. I mean, he jumped in the water and I'm willing to bet he didn't have to do it yet. I doubt it was a "this is your only chance" situation, but probably more of a "if you feel you are ready to make the jump" situation.

He's a jobber (right now).

My opinion is that Stan thinks the game is going a certain direction (and he could be right in some respects), so he puts in the coach that represents where he thinks the game is going: young, "out-of-the-box" type guy. But...it backfires.

I think the FO thought JC would put them over with the fanbase, but that's not happening.

I'm probably off here, but I think it would be weird as a player to have a coach who is around my age or younger - especially a guy who hasn't been in the trenches with me or my teammates (or in JC's case, any trenches at the NHL level).

Just my opinion.

Interesting point for sure.

But what guy would pass that opportunity up? You'd be stupid, you know?

Telling the truth.
Having a good plan.
Setting the proper expectations.

Do those things, follow through on them, and your base will be more likely to respect and support you.

McD could learn from this example. Right now, people are being asked to pay a premium to see a nightly s**tshow pimped as a playoff team that bears no relation to reality.

Meanwhile, they are selling tix on Groupon, the secondary market has tanked, and I have to believe that season ticket holders will be in full revolt at renewal next season.

Also have to think the failure to sellout the winter classic game brings its own separate pressure from the NHL - hence the shameless pimping of it during player interviews. Anyone who has been to an ND football game knows the trip back is a freaking nightmare, and a bad game makes it all the less worth it.

I'm going to the MTL game Sunday. I will be interested to see how many empty seats there will be, and what the general mood of the fans who do attend will be.

Obviously not as good as winning but better than how boring last year was.

Im hoping that since this has continued there will be more drastic moves so everyone can accept that they suck now but at least be excited about one change or another.

JC had $3.5M (or so) reasons to go for it. Had he stayed in Rockford and Stan been whacked this spring, no guarantees he would have been kept on by the new guy.

That is not the way Shovel Face does things. He didn't do that with the Cubs and he will not do it with the Hawks.

I'm not saying he didn't have reasons, just saying that it is still a choice. We don't know how he sold himself or what he said to land it either. Honestly, none of us know if he will sink or swim long term either. It isn't a great start, but the team is kinda a disorganized lump.

Well if this keeps up, June will be exciting. But there's a darn a lot of time between now and June so it's killing me. We weren't sunk last year until that 8 game losing streak in late January or February so this is tougher this year for me.

I hear you. I live in Edmonton so I've seen this from Edmonton fans for about 10 years now. It's hard to watch a full season when you are nose diving out of it early.

Just want to see them make some progress at this point. Maybe have some young guys start to show up and impress. Stan has work to do.

Switching gears a bit...

What do you guys think of the rumor about the Coyotes moving to Houston?

I know...they're always rumored to relocating, but now that they're moved to the Central Division, sounds like it's a real possibility.

Could be a cool in-state rivalry with the Stars.
