Switching gears a bit...

What do you guys think of the rumor about the Coyotes moving to Houston?

I know...they're always rumored to relocating, but now that they're moved to the Central Division, sounds like it's a real possibility.

Could be a cool in-state rivalry with the Stars.

- Hank3Henshaw

Probably will help both teams in the long run if that happens. They have the population there to support it.

Houston much larger market. Much better being in the Central.

I like having a TX rivalry.

I agree. Should be cool if they do it.

Wonder if they'll stay the Coyotes.

He's a jobber (right now).

My opinion is that Stan thinks the game is going a certain direction (and he could be right in some respects), so he puts in the coach that represents where he thinks the game is going: young, "out-of-the-box" type guy. But...it backfires.

I think the FO thought JC would put them over with the fanbase, but that's not happening.

I'm probably off here, but I think it would be weird as a player to have a coach who is around my age or younger - especially a guy who hasn't been in the trenches with me or my teammates (or in JC's case, any trenches at the NHL level).

Just my opinion.

- Hank3Henshaw

To be fair, Colliton did play some games in the NHL versus say Trotz who never played at the pro level. I know Trotz has more skins on his coaching wall but the point is that Colliton has been in the trenches with NHL and minor league players before while Trotz has not.

Also, Colliton played for Team Canada on the WJC when Seabrook was also on the team. That has to count for something since it's not easy to make the cut for these world tournament squads.

Not saying he has a huge track record but Colliton did play in the NHL and had some other accolades in his hockey playing days.

I do get and agree with your overall point that Colliton was thrown to the sharks. Agree with Breadbag, too, that he likely did have a choice and quite possibly was choosing based on job security for his family as well as perhaps a more challenging experience. I think it can be both: he choose to accept the Hawks coaching gig while also not given the resources and control to succeed. Question is: did he know the latter was going to happen?

How much longer until McD and Bowman are fired?

I give it until Christmas max, if they continue losing...possibly sooner.

I think JC was given crap to work with and that is all on Stan, and McD just needs to go.

I think Crawford is a battling, tough, proud dude. I’m worried that if he is fighting through some symptoms he may hide it. Otherwise he is simply awful playing shooters breaking in who seem to be scoring an insane amount of the time.
- Z3Hawk

I’m more than worried, I went back and watched that 2nd goal, Crawford not only flinched, he turned his head away from it and kinda ducked (pun not intended) away.

Fair points about some WJC,AHL and NHL experience, man.

I just think you need more experience from a coaching standpoint at the highest level.

I think you might be looking into it a bit too deeply. I don't think this has anything to do with post-concussion stuff, which I assume you're eluding to.

In my mind, it was just a bad goal from a bad angle. A number of goals flinch at shots that are high or high and tight into the shoulder/head area. It's a human reaction.

He stands up, hugs his post like he's supposed to and shooter probably does something else. Terrible goal. Should never, never be allowed to happen.

Speaking of rumors... I read somewhere that the Hawks might be changing their jerseys again, specifically the collars. This is long overdue, it's not a coincidence that their poor play started when the most recent jerseys were introduced.

Agree. Or at least let Colliton surround himself with assistants he knows, trusts, and has experience. Smith and Granato are experienced but their type of experience is not what this young, rebuilding team needs.

Just like a little kid being told "no" by his parents: "Maybe next year when you're old enough you can choose your own assistants." Colliton should go into tantrum mode: "But I want to choose them NOW!"

Best news I've heard in a while! Those collars are fugly. They won't help the team win but at least they'll look better losing.

For me, terrible is a stretch. Rarely will a guy hit that spot perfectly from that angle and he had to worry about the guy streaking in back door, so he had to be ready to push off. There wasn't much to shoot at and credit to Sprong on nailing the shot IMO. I think the goalies have to really find a balance between covering every square inch on the post and being ready to react to lateral movement. There will always be a hole somewhere.

Look how much he had covered when the shot was happening.

If Kane had scored a goal like this, we'd be talking about how great he shot it, not how awful the goalie was.

"The Chicago Blackhawks have been out scouting heavily. Their ‘Cap-ologist’ traveled with them on their last road trip. GM Stan Bowman scouted the Coyotes-Kings, two scouts watched Kings-Canucks, three at Stars-Flames, and two watched Kings-Oilers."
- SoftServe

So we can expect more bad moves by Stan soon...good to know...

6-2 Knights tonight or will it be worse...

Good points, but Sprong would have to make a helluva pass with 2 Hawks in the passing lanes. And again, it never goes in, if he stands up and hugs that post. He could do that and anticipate any pass to a trailer. They're not mutually exclusive.
Instead, Sprong makes a good shot on a goalie that telegraphs his positioning coming off the plane.
