15 of 18 is what the Vegas crew said at the end but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was 19 of 20 losses by next week.

One game closer to a Top 3 draft pick. Typically if you draft in the top 3, it’s going to be an impact player...Dylan Strome notwithstanding....he’s an NHLer but no star with his skating. Seriously doesn’t look like he lifts his feet off the ice. He’s got good smarts, hands, size, vision and willing to get to the dirty areas...it just takes him too long to get there and he’s left behind in quick transition. Even a slight improvement to Anisimov level skating and he could be a competent 2C

That Vegas crew was enjoying to listen to. Very professional, no homerism. One of a few positives from watching the game.

Well, Murphy’s Law definitely seems to apply to this team. I think Phil said it and it’s very appropriate. Maybe the key will be Connor Murphy?? Who comes out? Joki has looked less and less confident lately with Colliton limiting his ice in favor of Manning, Gustafson, and Forsling....gotta play the kid, the season is lost FFS
- EnzoD

Yeah I want the beats to ask JC what Joki is not doing to his satisfaction, because it makes no sense.

He doesn't turn the puck over like Gus, which was JC excusable. He said so during the pregame interview.

Jokiharju was playing well with Keith. I'd put them back together and stick with it.
I'd like to see Forsling and Murphy together and Manning and Seabrook
But if JC plays Gustafsson, and we know JC is going to play Gustafsson, I'd go:

Forsling and Seabrook
Gus and Murphy (because Murphy is a little faster than no-movement Seabrook (that was a great line, btw) and since Gus is always out of position jumping into the offense, his partner needs to be able to get back and defend.

Seemingly from Day 1 Forsling jumped Joki on the depth chart. Q was using Joki-Keith as the Top pair and he was lighting it up. It’s possible Joki is wearing down as a 19yr old, maybe has a minor injury? I’ve got No qualms with playing Forsling a lot as a young development guy...but Seabrook, Manning, Rutta are all not good and provide no offense. Gustafson provides offense so I see the rationale in playing him....Joki 12 mins tn and 14 mins last night SMH

Last thing we need to do is kill that kid's confidence or slow his development. Seems to be one of the only "definitely NHL talent" draft picks we've had in years.

So, what do the Blackhawks do with Jack Hughes next year? Play him on RW with Toews and Saad? Have him center Kane? Drop him down to 3L center?

I would try to make pairs that stay together all the time - only the third guy on each line get's rotated in and out depending how they mesh with the "pair" and how well they're playing that night. Saad/Toews, Hughes/Kane and DCat/Strome would be the top-9 pairs with possibly Sikura/Kampf/Kahun being the other guys pieced into the top-9.

JC’s comments about Gus’s turnovers being something the team could live with was something out of the twilight zone.

Did anyone see the short clip of JC in Kane's ear, and Kane looked like he was about to start balling? I had the sound off. Did Pat and Eddie comment on that?
- Dieselhead

Did not look like Kane was “about to start balling.” Looked more like “get away from me, I know more about what is required in the NHL than you do.” OR “this raw, raw nonsense is not working for me.” OR as one other poster said “whatever.”

When he was talking to Toews I thought Toews might tell him to “shut the (p)uck up.”

I didn't see the game but I read some of last night's posts. I'm guessing by the tone we may no longer have a Blackhawk Hockeybuzz community. I think it may have finally happened, all the ledge dwellers jumped en masse.

Someone should have had a follow up then -- ok, Coll, what about the out of position bit? No?

He's an NHL no 1 d-man???

Seriously...

I don't think you can put those choices on Stan, directly, unfortunately -so it is a bit more of a complex issue to unravel.

I think some of Seabrook's problem is gear related --- he needs to invest in some non-rubber sticks - his weenie passes in the past couple of games have directly led to goals - and I think that is whatever his sticks are ... although this last one tonight, he was draped all over the guy that scored, after his really bad weenie pass.

That was an area JC said he's looking for Gus to improve in/show his skill. Defensive positioning.

Really?
He ought to go into comedy with gems like that one.

I saw 28's ice time ... I mean yeh that transcends description...

... on another note, I think I find the trainwrecks actually a bit more interesting to write about. I will admit that I need to catch more complete games - the timezone thing where I am at, means that I am not going to be able to do it live (even when streaming it can be about a minute or about a 90 second lag time).

I'm about at the end of the giving Colliton a break period, though -since a lot of his decisions are, to my mind, suspect.

He's also pulling a Quennville on Perlini ... not sure why, he can't possibly be any worse than some of those other lower line guys ... I'm not really clear on what he is seeing and why... but then again, well I guess that means I get to join the crowd.

Calling 'flawed meme' on this one -- I mean you can't be a 'not a hockey guy' then be prevaricating on an opinion that is at odds with the facts. Now if you put a hockey guy out there making that statement - that actually makes the meme work better.

You know dating back a long while Seabs has had stick problems. However, you wouldn’t see it on passes, you’d see his sticks explode as he tried to get a grade A opportunity shot off. He’d be in the perfect position...and then poof. Haven’t seen as much of that recently, although we did see it last night - Seabs ended up taking a penalty. Have seen the weak rubber stick passing recently.

Watching the Hawks is like watching a team version of Eeyore. If it can go wrong it will. You gotta think it doesn’t help to have a Coach who thinks it is OK for Gus to have turnovers and who thinks he can “raw, raw” players with 3 Cups, who were an OT goal away from 4. He is also idiotically said he had more challenging times in the Swedish Low League as the team could have folded. Does he listen to himself? Q treated the players as men. Hope in the background Rocky brings on a killer hockey mind to advise him ‘cause this a poop show of epic proportions.

- SimpleJack

gotta love Seabs, he was such an essential part in winning
us 3 cups, but history will always start attach him w/having the
worst contract in the history of hockey.

Stan and mcd need to go and go quickly
