Kapanen is not going to be on the left side no matter how many times people keep posting it
Seriously, Babcock and Kapanen both said this already. Kap isnt comfortable playing the left side, as per himself. Maybe this changes in the future, but he wont be there now.
Marleau-Matthews-Nylander
Hyman-Tavares-Marner
Johnsson-Kadri-Kapanen
Ennis-Lindholm-Brown
Here is what the lineup will be, but truthfully Marleau should be switched with Brown/Johnsson. - Archaic
That's odd because Kapanen said he'd be open to playing on the Left wing, and has also played it in the past at some points in time. |

Didn't catch the whole game last night, but, were Buffalo playing for the shootout in OT?
From what i saw they wouldn't attack? - walshyleafsfan
They were trying to win it.
Leafs had the puck for less than 20 seconds the entire OT.
I'm not joking. |

I swear to goodness, I'd ask Matthews who he wants as his left winger.
And then I'd adjust the other lines (he can't pick Marner!). |

My big takeaway from last night:
Buffalo had a franking amazing forecheck last night after turnovers. Whenever we got the puck in our end down low, they had one or two guys on us immediately. There were times where we could not get the puck out in 3-4 tries.
As a coach, I loved seeing it. Hard work pays off! |

Well duh.
The shot was faster than the speed of light - if you didn't watch it in slow mo, there's no way you could watch it at all!
I'm worried that Canucks fans are going to demand that the laws of physics be added to the NHL rulebook. |

Thats not what he said during an interview I saw, he said he isnt playing off the left wing. Where did you see him say that?
Also, Babcock said this as well.

Hell probably say Marleau, but Marleau doesnt work well with him. |

With Matthews, I'm slowly coming around to the same mindset I had with Kessel: don't give him 2 great players to play with - he doesn't need them. The guy will generate enough on his own.
Give him a really good guy and a poop grinder, and spread the talent around your other lines.
And one other question: If Marner is the best passer on the team, and Matthews has the best shot on the team, how long until Babsie tries them together?
How many goals could Matthews get if he just skated to the net and waited for Marner to deliver the puck to him?
Frightening. |

Agreed and disagreed.
Marner is so good at passing that all you have to do is have your stick on the ice in front of the net, and things will go in. I think you're putting so much talent on the same line that ultimately you get diminishing marginal returns on production vs. other potential line combinations. |

So you're saying you want to leave him with that piece of poop Tavares?
Gawd, it's finally fun to be a Leafs fan. |

It’s easy to hold onto pucks in OT.
They didn’t produce any chances, they were playing timid like they knew if they (frank)ed up Marner Tavares or Matthews was going to go the other way and score. |

That's exactly what I'm saying.
Tavares has a shot but his real strength is making space for himself, which fits perfectly with a passer of Marner's vision. I think the combo is perfect. |

Marner and Matthews would score every period if they were together, but Marner and Tavares have too much chemistry to split up
