My big takeaway from last night:

Buffalo had a franking amazing forecheck last night after turnovers. Whenever we got the puck in our end down low, they had one or two guys on us immediately. There were times where we could not get the puck out in 3-4 tries.

As a coach, I loved seeing it. Hard work pays off!

We did a lot of watching last night it seemed....some how no matter where the puck was, we had 1 guy and they had 2 guys.

Good win, this team has reminded me of the Randy Carlyle days as of late.

7pm start is 1am in Sweden.

It’s easy to hold onto pucks in OT.

They didn’t produce any chances, they were playing timid like they knew if they (frank)ed up Marner Tavares or Matthews was going to go the other way and score.

Yeah that's what I saw while I was there. Leafs were waiting for them to make a mistake.

Buffalo looked like they put guys on the ice in overtime waiting for Eichel to come back over the boards.

Buffalo has had success based on hard work. They remind a little of the Leafs from 2 years ago, but they also remind me of the Senators from 2 years ago. The Sens would win on solid goaltending and a coach that worked the heck out of the forwards.

My fear for the Sabres would be that they still lack offensive depth and Skinner has played out of his mind so far. They also won 7 out of those 10 games in OT/SO. That is already starting to turn around.

So while things are looking up for them, I am guessing there is a long way to go still.

On the other hand, 3 of those 4 recent losses were against Tampa Nashville and Toronto... they won't have a tougher stretch of games all year, and they got a point out of 2 of them

Yeah and anyone with a NTC has to be protected. I'm not concerned for 3 years away.
