We've let him develop by scoring 90+ points in the OHL twice and putting on weight as he was 160 pounds. Does he have the stats that Nylander has right now? No, but I'm sure if we stuck him with Matthews 18 minutes a game he would put up 60 points in this league.

There just aren't enough young, impact top line dmen in this league in comparison to young, impact forwards. Every year the NHL is flooded with new impact 19-20 year old forwards while the majority of drafted dmen take years to develop.

Kyrou is 2byears younger than nylander and 2 seasons ago nylander was a top winger. Hell he was showing more 3 years ago in the AHL and NHL than kyrou did in the CHL at the same age.

You really think putting him with Matthew's is going to vault him from a 10 point player to a 60 point 1 (which by the way is still less than nylander).
I mean, the leafs have nylander extra time than he needed, and was over a ppg in the AHL before they called him up. And that was still younger than kyrou is now.

Kyrou is a good prospect. But not really in nylanders league. 2 or 3 tiers down.

I'm guessing you just pulled Kyrou being a 10 points scorer in the NHL over a full season out of the air, because Kyrou has played 100 minutes in the NHL getting 8-10 minutes per game on a sheltered 3rd line.

Nylander is a few years ahead of Kyrou in age and development, but there is still no telling where they are at in 3 years.

I'm not sure how this turned into a discussion of "who's the better NHLer" between a player with 3 years NHL experience vs a prospect. Of course Kyrou isn't worth Nylander straight up, but Nylander is not worth Parayko straight up either, let alone adding a prospect.

Also Nylander and Kyrou have very similar stats in the minor leagues, AHL included. Kyrou's stats are slightly lower but he plays on the leagues worst team.

Similar stats lol.

Nylander 45 points in 38 games at age 19. 13 points in 22 games in the NHL also at 19.

Kyrou 10 points in 14 games at 20.

Not remotely comparable.

The stats are very comparable.

He's playing on the worst team in the AHL with the 2nd lowest goals for. Nylander played for the best AHL team that season with a stacked lineup.

Kyrou 5 points back from leading the team in in scoring with 11+ less games played than the guys ahead of him. Jordan Nolan is the best player on the team without Kyrou.

Not sure what you're getting at. Seems me saying that Nylander is years ahead of Kyrou's development is going over your head. Playing with Matthews definitely beefs up his numbers though.

I just listed them. At a younger age nylander had far far better stats.

They're not comparable.

Kyrous AHL stats are closer to nylanders NHL stats (again, still when kyrou was a year older though). And while you keep pointing to Matthew's, those stats were nylander at 19 vs kyrou at 20, and nylander with no matthews.

It's not remotely close.

I agree with you. It's not remotely close because Kyrou has played 20 games total between the NHL and AHL so far. While you are listing stats that include 50 AHL games and 20 NHL games.

He just got put on a top 6 line for the first time tonight in the NHL and scored his first goal. It's laughably asinine to compare the two at this point in their careers. NHL players don't all develop at 19 and get to be sheltered by playing with top level talent in their respective leagues.

Yes it is asinine. Because kyrou doesn't measure up.

And again, nylander was not playing with Matthew's at age 19.
