Lucic will only have a limited NMC by the time the Seattle team selects. Maybe we can convince him to waive, and send Seattle pick to select him.

If Vancouver offered Gagner for Russell would you do it ?
- Reveen.

I don't know if I would. For all his flaws, Russell can defend at a reasonable rate and actually provides NHL-level ability. I'm in the market for acquiring and retaining players of actual NHL ability and Gagner is not that. I'd sooner save said cap by buying out Sekera's contract.

Said cap space breaks down as follows:

Projected 12.7mil in cap space as of now
Buyout Sekera (+3mil for 2 yrs, -1.5mil for next 2 yrs)
Kassian trade (+1.9mil out)
Cap increase (+3.5mil assuming the high end)

Total cap space of 21.1mil

Resign Rieder (3mil), Puljujarvi (2mil), Khaira (1.3mil) and Russell (700k)
Resign Gravel (950k) and maybe Wideman (900k)
Koskinen or Talbot or equivalent (4mil by 2/3)

12.3mil (Russell being buried) of the 21.1mil spent

Now, because I enjoy doing this, for how to spend the remaining 8.8mil in UFA and trades:

Sooner than later, 2019 1st+Spooner for Stone and conditional 2020 2nd (only if he doesn't resign) then resign him for 8.8x8 (+5.7mil)

Nurse for either Nutivaara (-0.5mil) or- the more likely available- Savard (+1.05mil)

Nuge and Bear for Schwartz, Blais and a 2019 3rd (-0.65mil)

Puljujarvi for Jost (-1mil)

A backup (1.2mil)

Net cap expenditure = 6.885mil leaving 1.915mil in cap space for the PTO, bonus cushions and in-season trades.

That’s certainly putting a lot of faith into Khaira but it could certainly work out....couldn’t help but notice that you had 5 lines listed so is this like a dump Lucic and sit Brodziak deal or just play whoever does better kind of deal?

I don’t know if Khaira would workout on the top line but Stone would allow the team to finally put Drai back on his own line and Schwartz is an upgrade over Chiasson providing he can remain healthy....another possibility is to see if the Flyers are gonna be in sell mode....if so that’s another team worth talking to

Khaira is more or less a placeholder for anyone else who steps up. The bottom two lines are kinda more or less a training camp battle to see who takes the spot. If an offensive line can find chemistry and make it work then give em a shot, if not, run the Lucic-Brodziak-_____
