Take this with a grain of salt because of who it came from.

Last year EK talking about knowing Buffalo is going to be good because they beat a lot of good teams but still losing a lot.

They made quite a few changes and won the draft lottery. That sure helped.

Seeing how Buffalo is doing this year though. Got to wonder how far Van is off from becoming good again.

cant ignore skinner acquisition. albeit they shipped out oreilly who is also having a great campaign.

That's why I'd like the 2nd overall pick, although Hughes is a big talent, he's a small skilled center and I think a more pressing need it top six wingers for Pettersson and Horvat.

If you get the first overall pick and don't take Jack, Quinn Hughes will be PISSED, you don't want that. I think Kaapo is 6'1" 190 lbs.

i get it, but i still think a C will most often have more of an impact than a winger. Depends on the guy though. could always load up and have one of them play alongside the other here and there.

would rantanen do what he does without mackinnon? would kucherov do what he does without point/stamkos?

Don’t mind lefty. He doesn’t think either Hughes are exciting players. Sigh....only thing that gets him excited these days are camels and buffets

You posted last week you didn't want Jack Hughes so you should be onboard with my thinking on that

Good effort tonight. Other than Goldobin, I thought it was a pretty solid effort from all players.

A few more solid games like that and playoffs.😁

We'll see who's rated where come June but if Kaapo is ahead of Dach, you take the best player available. That being said, I'm a big believer in building through the middle of the ice, if Dach and Kaapo are close, personally I'd be inclined to take Dach. He can always play wing with Horvat and he's got good size to go with his outstanding playmaking abilities.

Lol did I? I may have been drinking...I sort of agree with you but I can’t let anyone else know. You are right though, having two Hughes on the team could be a risk. Not to mention our incredibly small top 9

An undrafted 20 year that wasn't very good in his d+1 season, chances of him making the NHL are probably close to less then 1%

Worth a late pick, he's playing as a 19 year old this year and killing it. Lethbridge were using him as a checker, since he's gone to the Raiders he's exploded offensively. Got an invite to team Canada.

Yeah, I saw that he did. Good for him. I hope he makes the team. Has a bit of MacEwen feel to him. I can't say I know much about him other than he is scoring at a crazy pace.

I just know that undrafted players that don't score in draft year or draft plus one are usually long shots to make the nhl.

There is probably a midget Russian available that we would rather select.

what's annoying is that the Sabres have double our draft picks.

Good game.

I'm on team tank but a win once in awhile when the young guys play well, especially against an elite team is fine by me.

Doesn't matter, they won't have any place for all those picks to play

They have done absolutely nothing with al those extra picks. No one outside a first or second round have done anything in the NHL. A good portion have been traded away too.

Which could lead me into an idea.

Should JB package together and sell high on some of the prospects having good seasons like Rathbone and Lockwood and pick up someone like Buffalo did with Skinner or Florida/ San Jose did with Hoffman.

Maybe Toffoli, Nino, Anders Lee, Simmonds type player.

For whatever reason we seem to have Rinne's number from time/time.

Good to see them close that one out when it was 5-3 I thought Marky was gonna blow it lol.

Hate to rain on your parade but that's completely false, I believe the Sabres have the best prospect pool in the league because of those picks and with their future picks they used a 2019 2nd, two 3rds 2019/20 (Cliff Pu) and a 2020 6th to acquire a top line player to play with Eichel and he's got 20 goals already this year in 29 games.

Plus they still have two or three first round picks for 2019! Their own and they own both St. Louis's and San Jose's.

Bottom line is they've done more than "absolutely nothing" with their many picks.

"2018 The Athletic - In terms of tiers, it goes Buffalo, then a steep drop to Vancouver in its own tier, St. Louis and Carolina are in a tier, followed by a small drop after the Islanders and another minor drop after Chicago."
