You have to finish those early chances and get some quality saves to beat a top team like the Jets on the road. The Flyers went 0 for 2. |

I know you're looking to bait people but I seriously don't think anyone is really defending it anymore. Everyone knows change is coming. |

It's amazing you still follow the team. It's like watching a movie over and over just so you can tell others how much the movie blows...I don't think the problem lies with the movie at that point. |

Really great 1st period but still gave up 2 goals. Jets took control of the game as it progressed. Some bad luck but really - another really bad step backwards after such a great performance in Buffalo.
So what's next? Are the Flyers just that bad? |

I think they have a lot of good pieces, but they don't have enough glue to put it all together. |

Not to make excuses but it's a back to back against a very good team.
They're a .500 team to me. They can look very good or very bad any given night, but big picture they tread water. |

It's really crazy how different the Flyers can look. I think they try and play fancy skill pond-style hockey sometimes and they get burned. When they focus on hard work and forechecking and being physical - grunt work, if you will, not glamorous but effective - they wear teams down. The penalties, PK, and goaltending today was really a let down as well. |

They do seem to be built like a "work hard, get to the dirty area" kind of team, but try to play a more skilled game. It just does not work for them. I am hoping this new regime realizes that and finally decides on what they want and how to play it. |

Winnipeg got a ton of bounces and Hellebuyck was superb. As the game marched on the Flyers faded. There were a ton of plays that weren't called that IMO were really scary. Simmonds got cross-checked from behind into the post and actually looked a bit dazed getting back up. |

If we are moving Simmonds, instead of trading him for just a 1st, I rather trade Simmonds + 2nd or 3rd + a prospect for immediate help. |

The problem is that the teams who are likely most interested in Simmonds are contenders. They’ll be looking to send picks/prospects back. |

I think you have to be more specific. Because people will read immeadiate help as trading for a 35 year old forward.
Now if you mean you want an NHL ready kid in his mid 20's, some experience under his belt and a manageable term then I agree. |

That all depends on the team Simmonds is traded to. A playoff team trying to add to get stronger isn't giving up immediate help. A non-playoff team would be willing to give up something off the roster, but why would they want to add Simmonds then?
Edit: late again |

Seriously. That's what they are. Obviously there's skill in the lineup. It's all about picking your spots. With Couturier out it's really easy for teams to focus on Giroux and try and shut that down. They've got to get their PP back on track. The 1st look they had was amazing. Hellebuyck was godly making 2-3 ridiculous stops. I'm not a fan of JvR at all TBH in this lineup. He's sort of morphed into a PP specialist, a la Briere at the end of his career, although Briere, IMO, was more effective and could actually make some special things happen 5-on-5, especially in the playoffs. JvR to me just doesn't have that. |

They just got railed by one of the top five teams in the league, in a road b2b
It's unfortunate, but ultimately not that complicated. Just got railed. It happens. They need to move on |

JvR signing was all about adding depth and options to the PP and through the lineup. The problem is, like Hextall admitted, the team was thought to be further along than it is which means JvR is looked upon to do more than what he is capable of doing. |
