I dont even think you can call them a fringe play off team right now they are so bad. We keep hearing its nothing major that needs to be fixed but there seems to be a billion tiny things that need tweaked i think thats just them sugar coating it every single night....

Yes on paper thats crazy, but having Matthews scoring 50 a year. I think it's worth it.

No, it really isn't. You could draft in the top 5 for 4 years and do much better than one player who will have no other good players around him. Easy pass.

Having one player doesn't win you a cup. Outside of last year Caps had Ovechkin his entire career and just finally got lucky to win one. I'm not really sure how you can just say having Matthews makes your team a winner if you don't have any players around him, which you'd be giving up by trading all of your picks.

You are crafting a story I never said. I never said Shero needs to trade everyone and only have Matthews. We'd have the same team (just giving up 4 picks) which is a really good team, Matthews would put us on a wining track.

Even if the Devs go on a decent winning streak to get back in the playoff picture, does anyone realistically think this team could go far in the playoffs? If they have any tradeable assets it is time to elevate/showcase them and continue the rebuild. This team has some nice pieces , just not enough.

Agree with you 100%. Palms needs to be seperated from Hall to have any chance of 2 scoring lines. As for Doughty, Unless they want our plethora of top prospects who look like busts (Zacha,Mcleod, Quenneville, and Mueller) as a package, then he is not worth targeting. I would rather get the lesser EK, and keep this years 1st and Ty Smith bc that's likely what they would be targeting. Also, EK is quickly playing his way down to an 8M cap space and looks out of place in the West.
