I don't know about that. American citizens just voted in a Congress that puts illegal aliens ahead of struggling Americans. And cares more about feelings than facts.
(And I despise Trump as a human being, but at least he is focusing on his citizens) - bochangs

Sorry I missed the joke. I should have added "Jimmy Hayes" and through in a few ha ha's in my defense of Taylor Hall. - gmarz16
Jimmy is full of contradictions.

Gretzky scored 90 points with the Rangers in the middle of the dead puck era with a disintegrating back.
Lemieux came back after three years and scored 76 points in 43 games, and almost won the scoring title even though he didn't start playing until Christmas. Also during the deadpuck era.
They are two of the greatest feats in NHL history, as far as I am concerned. |

the 3rd greatest feat was the NHL approving John Spanos purchase of the NYI |

Tanner loves his hyperbole no doubt. Leading the league by 40 is pretty silly.
But yeah, his sentiments aren’t wrong.
Connor is the games best player by a significant margin, the most valuable to his team by a similar margin and the best player the game has seen since Gretzky and Lemieux. The oilers would be league worst instead of in a playoff hunt without him. |

No poop... but then he thinks Trump care about anything else than his little wiener
So I don't think there a way we could explain it to him |

I think McDavid is amazing no doubt, but I would argue that Crosby fits in as the best since Gretzky and Lemieux.
I guess it's all in how you factor what constitutes "best" |

i leave rings out of it for a couple reasons.
hes significantly younger, but more importantly being saddled with peter chiarelli isnt his fault and shouldnt reflect poorly on him in the least.
he does all he can carrying a bad team on his back every night, winning art ross trophies and keeping them relevant.
there isnt a player in the league that could do the same as he does put in the same situation. and certainly the oilers would have ZERO playoff appearances in however many years since the rebuild if it wasnt for connor.
put connor on the bolts or the pens. it would be pure insanity if he was surrounded by those casts |

When I read anything Tanner writes I'm thankful that as a Devils fan we have Todd Cordell, the best in the business.
McDavid as MVP last year would have been a joke. He led his team to just barely missing the playoffs by 17 points. Meanwhile Taylor Hall took a lousy team with a second rate goalie on his back and took them to the playoffs. Of course using Tanner's logic I wonder how Hall would have looked with Mackinnon, Stamkos, Tavares or Couture playing behind him? I also have to wonder why Tanner would go with Brodiak as his next best Oiler...RNH is on a slightly below PPG pace, not bad for a #2 center. In contrast, the Devils #1 center has 27 points in 35 games. I guess that's what alleged writers call poetic license.
McDavid as MVP this year? I'm not sure but I think the Oilers can miss the playoffs whether McDavid plays or not. Just for the record, I think McDavid is a great player and I'd love to see him on my team. I just think that a hockey writer would have a bit of a clue about...hockey. - gmarz16
Cordell isn't the best in the business. Ridiculously over relies on analytics.

Edm is currently 20-19-3 and 2pt out of wild card spot, if you take away McDavid they would be 6-33-3 (thanks to the great work by Chia).
How is that not a valuable player?
McDavid is in on like 55% of team scoring, if they didn't have him they would average 0.5 goals / game. |
