Agreed. Also, Jan there is no way Dallas is moving Benn or Seguin. Dallas needs to add not subtract. I know that you know that. I also know that mentionin the likes of Giroux and others was keep Dundee quiet.

Yup, not getting high end talent till the summer when teams see where they are at and pending UFA's decide what they are going to do. If there are any trades at the tdl its going to be for pics and or prospects.

Toronto could be interesting because they might have to let one of their young guys go with the cap trouble they might be in.

I could see them trading Kadri, and letting Gardiner and Hainsey walk. That's about the 12 mil they will need for Matthews. The Marner contract is going to be the real wild card.

1) I think you are absolutely correct
2) It terrifies me to think that it will come at an average price of $9MM annually per name off that list on a long term commitment

Hayes will probably test free agency and leave no turn un-stoned

Everyone on that list is going to get $9M+, except for probably Lee and Skinner. Frankly, I think most of those guys get over $10M, but that's no guarantee.

I would if I were him if for no other reason than as a negotiating tactic.

Looking at Points Per Game of guys set to become UFA before next season (who have played at least 10 games) Kevin Hayes ranks 6th and is the same age as the youngest guys.

Name - Age - Pts Per Game
Panarin - 26 - 1.16
Duchene - 27 - 1.14
Stone - 26 - 1.10
Skinner - 26 - 1.00
Pavelski - 33 - .88
Hayes - 26 - .85
Karlsson - 28 - .83

Some wacko may pay Kevin Hayes $8-9MM

I really just wanted to find a way to work "no turn un-stoned" into a post about Hayes

He's definitely not worth $8M+, but he's a damn fine player and he'll get paid. My guess is ~$6.5M

Yup, they are going to have to figure something out. Honestly though I wouldn't mind being in their position with that many good young players.

Pavelski should be added to that list as well. You don't have to agree with it but it would very NYR like to sign him over the summer.

Good news (sarcasm dripping) Landeskog-MacKinnon-Rantanen reunited for today's game. Wonder which defensive pair matches up against that line?

he'll be 35 when season starts, actually not sure since he turns 35 on July 11th, but if he signs July 1st if that means his contract wont be a 35+ contract

This is where I think Kreider could become expandable ( maybe not now ). You can start to dabble into experimentation by stacking up Hayes with Zib and someone like Buch or Chytil as the other wing. This is where I would like to see Kreider go to Toronto for Kapanen and 2 picks. Take on the Horton contract for more assets in return. Maybe Kravstov could center two established NHL'ers like Kapanen and Panarin?

I think either way that Panarin is someone who you would want to put on Hayes flank. His advanced stats scream to have a elite talent with him during the 5 on 5.

Would be shocked if he doesn't re-sign in San Jose.
