They're probably best waiting for the TDL at this point. Set a high price for Simmonds and wait for the highest bidder. Raffl and Gudas should also be shopped.
If anyone is interested in Weal, Folin or Neuvirth, send them packing as well. Make it known that Macdonald is available with 50% salary retained. Just eliminate Lehtera from the equation. Not sure why it hasnt happened already.
Though I dont expect it to be this drastic, hopefully we can see a line up full of youth for the rest of the way.

It's the Flyers. They'll finish dead last in the NHL and end up picking 4th.
This is known.

No disrespect intended here to you or others who feel as though the best course of action for the Flyers is to wait until the TDL (and/or âtankâ for the number one pick).
As a 40-plus year Flyers fan, itâs just really hard to accept this line of thinking â (i.e. to wait patiently, tank, or whatever). Itâs simply not in the Flyers organizationâs DNA. Wasnât Fletcher brought in because Flyersâ brass was growing tired of Hexyâs overly-cautious approach, reluctancy to move parts, players to improve the team now?
Waiting until the trade line just doesnât sit well with me...thatâs weeks away!! Okay, so maybe this is not a Flyers team (as constructed) that can make a playoff run. But for Christâs sake, itâs unnaceptable to me for them to just sit on their hands and wait until itâs convenient for others to make a deal. |

So your plan is to overpay in a panic move to finish 20th instead of 27th? |

Sucking til the TDL is not so bad, it accomplishes a few things.
1. It gives Fletch ample time to really evaluate things and construct a plan. I think that takes a little time.
2. It raises the value of every player that's on the block
3.It will intensify demand on the buyers side.
It sucks to watch now, but you have to see this as the start of a new rebuild, and in a few years it will look very different (if done right)
Hexys biggest mistake IMHO was trying to rebuild and compete at the same time. That is a recipe for eternal mediocrity... |

See, this is what I don't get. If it's known that Simmonds (for example) is available, and it should be pretty apparent right now, wouldn't a team give up more assets to have him for 40+ games as opposed to 25+ games? The supposed "bidding war" starts when a player is known to be available, not 2 days before the TDL. |

Flyers fans are becoming brainwashed to this patience approach that was supposed to solve the 40 year drought. I see a team at the bottom of the NHL....why wouldnât I want to bring back the same stiffs next year. I keep hearing what a horrible GM Holmgren was....well at least we went to the Stanley Cup under him. Isnât that the goal ? You kind of have to get there before you can win it. The Flyers went to the finals how many times?...so many times...when they didnât they still were among the best in the league year in an and year out....they were a team to always be proud of. Iâm sure Fletcher is in discussions with several teams about several parts.
I agree 100 %.....thereâs absolutely no reason to not start the re-tool now...they have talent on the current team that can be moved....they donât have to move all the âgolden prospectsâ, but I would expect some to go to help for today....fret not though Iâm sure some of Fletchers deals will bring in some new prospects that hopefully can develop. |

The deadline does seem to make some teams over pay though....itâs like they see what others around them are doing and feel the need to try and improve to keep up....your right though, good GMs try and make deals earlier to help sooner and avoid a bidding war. |

Buyers will wait till the TDL in case their needs change, and also to make sure risk is minimized and player is actually healthy at the latest point in the season. Also to make sure they are still in the hunt.
Trade for someone now and they get hurt by TDL, doesn't play out well for the buyer...
Neither does trading now and missing the Playoffs... But that's just how I would view it. |

Heâs actually playing really good...considering his age and lack of pro experience...better then I thought. I also see a major improvement by Sanheim under a different coach....guy played 25 minutes yesterday and in all key situations. Hopefully Myers is recalled when heâs ready to get some seasoning as well. |

This team is frustrating. Why are we so bad in OT this season? We were pretty good before.
Tough loss, and the sad part is, I had no real hope that theyâd win yesterday. Wasnât even really that excited to goto the game, but I took my son because he wanted to go. Plus I knew Iâd never get anywhere near my money back if I sold the tix. At least I got a picture with Gritty. |
