Agreed it is absolutely worth a shot as it could save you from trading for a rental. Also he is getting paid to be a top 6 forward as you mentioned. |

I've always been a Backes fan, despite his underwhelming play. However, there are several factors attributing to it. He has had several injuries and illnesses during that time. And completely inconsistent linemates, as with Krejci. When Backes first came here and they rolled the Krej, Pasta, Backes line, it went really well until Backes's concussion. And the Spooner, Heinen, Backes third line was also creating traction. I like the idea of Krej's playmaking, Debrusk's scoring and Backes's grit. Reminds me of building a line on NHL 2005. |

I am digging the Brayden Schenn rumors. Make it happen! |

As mentioned with the 6 mil price tag he has to fill the role of a top 6 fwd. As a fan I hope he does, he brings a lot of quality attributes in his game especially with his physical play and should compliment Debrusk and Krejci well. If he can't stick as a top 6 I think this team is in serious trouble of making any noise this year, as they can't really afford to bring in any top end talent to fill the void. Keeping a 6 mil player in the bottom 6 really isn't a winning formula unfortunately.
