Or you could just shut the (frank) up and just watch the team and not argue about the same poop for 15 pages a day when nothing you say has any impact on anything that happens with the team. We get it, you want them to get a defencemen, everyone on the (frank)ing internet probably knows that by now, saying that poop for another thread doesn't (frank)ing make a difference. If that is literally all you come here to do then just stop (frank)ing coming here

The top 6 without nylander, is exactly the same top 6 that is currently 3rd in the nhl in goals. you know, without nylander

His shooting percentage is le poop right now; I'd like them (and expected them) to be 1st in goals.

That's this team's strength, our offensive talent, an embarrassment of riches.

Our D would benefit from Hainsey shifting down, Dermott up. Free upgrade. Bring in another depth D, or even a 4/5 righty and we're even better.

None of those cost the 9M that Pietrangelo is going to command on the open market, plus Hamilton's 5.75M (who's do for a raise in a couple years).

I don't know what Frank did to deserve this abuse, but he must be a total Richard.

If the leafs want to make a splash this year, they should load up on what’s available, UFA’s.

Nylander, Brown and a 2nd/prospect to Ottawa for Duchene, Stone and Ceci.

The deal didn’t great after this season but it gives them hands down the best set of forwards. Brown and pics/prospects are expendable. Deal really ends up being Nylander for Ceci and a legit shot at the cup which is what this is all about.

They could still trade then trade Zeitsev, their 1st and a prospect for Pietrangelo/Parayko.

Duchene Matthews Kapanen
Johnson Tavares Marner
Marleau Kadri Stone
Hyman Lindolm Ennis

Rielly Parayko
Gardiner Ceci
Dermott Hainsey

Am I the only guy who refers Alex Pietrangelo and Alex 'Peter-angelo"? I know it's wrong but I refuse to change!

Not too bad, a tie last week ( (frank)ing Peterson injury ) and a loss the week before ( 2 more injuries ) and I’m 11-2-1

350 more points then the guy ahead of me

I don’t think I can lose again or I’m in trouble.

we need a real upgrade at D to be a legitimate contender. I'd take either of those guys even as rentals for 2 Cup runs, future contracts not even a consideration for me. We want to win now, while we have our 2 best players on entry level deals.

Carried over from the previous thread, but I got caught up . . . you know, doing my job and all.

True Wedgie story:

Once upon a time, I entered a hockey pool at a large company (I wasn't an employee, but I was allowed to enter, as I had a few buddies there).

This was a while ago - I think there were 26 teams in the NHL at the time.

The pool was interesting: you had to take (iirc) 15 forwards, 8 defencemen, 2 goalies...and one goon. And you could only take one player from each NHL team.

Forwards and D: 1 point for every point.

Goalies: 2 pts for a win, and maybe 5 points for a shutout? Doesn't matter.

And the goon: 1 point for each point, and 1 point for every 10 pts in penalty minutes.

There were probably over 100 entries. Most people took Domi or Probert or some other goon as their goon.

But there were about 5 of us who figured out a better way, and took Shanny or Nolan.

Well, about 3 weeks in, the others who had donated their $50 realized that they had been stupid - they had no hope of winning. People started complaining via emails - but since I wasn't at at the company, I couldn't tell them to go eff themselves, not my fault they didn't figure it out.

The guy running it eventually let a select few people change - and I positively lost my poop. It was only later that they explained to me that the people who got to change were still going to come in dead last.

I ended up winning the pool, and it paid for my patio furniture.

Thank you, Shanny.

- Atomic Wedgie

Funny. I have a reverse Shanny story.

In 2002 at the place where I worked, we knew we'd be watching the Olympic Hockey together, so we all agreed to get different Canada jerseys - but also agreed that no one could take Lemieux because everyone would want him. Guys ended up with Blake, Sakic, Yzerman, Niedermeyer, Nieuwendyk, Kariya . . . my wife even got Joseph. I had Shanny. Still do, of course.

Anyway, the tournament goes on and we all get to revel in the performance of our namesakes. Well. Except my wife whose goalie was pulled against Sweden and of course me, whose player did SFA. In fact Shanny's performance was so weak that Don Cherry even had a segment on coach's corner where he blatantly pointed out that Shanny had run a pick on a play. "See there? See there? He runs a pick! All you people saying Shanny did nothing!".

My guy ran a pick. Whoop. Thanks, Shanny!

Soooo:

Marleau Matthews Kapanen
Bennett Tavares Marner
Lindholm Kadri Moore
Engvall Gauthier Marchment
Ennis
Hyman

Rielly Pietrangelo
Gardiner Hamilton
Dermott Oz

That honestly looks pretty awful. Bottom 6 will get pwned, as they should, because they're so green, so Babs will barely play them. Bennett's now playing the wing, because he's worse than Kadri.

The top 6 now looks extremely average-to-good, instead of great, or "top 3 in the league".

The defense is much better, but still doesn't really scare anyone. It may be one of the better Ds in the league on paper, but that paper ain't worth what it used to be in the clutch-and-grab and trap days; I just see a headache trying to figure out the PP ice-time... so now we play two D on PP? Nobody does that unless they're a weak Habs team and now our forwards are fighting for ice-time...

Good part is though, they wouldn't be rentals. Nylander, Marleau and Gardiner add up to 18-20 million in cap space which would be more than enough to re-sign them both.
