If he remains a 60 point player then 7 is fine. Not a steal, just meh. My barometer for an overpayment is Zaitsev.
- Steven_Seagull

(frank). No.

He got paid 7 because the idea is he's suppose to improve, not flatline.

Pietrangelo is better than Parayko.
- Unholy_Goalie

just as was the case for Karlsson, the extremely simple straight forward logic that you are not able to absorb is the following:

1) Karlsson is generally expected to re-sign for 10M+ when he resigns - which in simplest terms is too expensive against the CAP for the Leafs going forward

2) Pietrangelo will likely want to resign at north of 8M+ when he resigns - which is in simplest terms is too expensive against the CAP for the Leafs going forward

3) Paryako is cost controlled for 4-5 years

your monumentally simplistic (you can substitute another word which begins with st___ ) proposals and "statements of fact" supporting your desire to acquire Karlsson earlier, repeated far too often clearly indicate you do not understand that the challenge is longer term cap hit... and that you shouldn't give up valuable assets for very short term solutions.

whether Pietrangelo is better than Paryako is in and of itself debatable... one thing is for sure Pietrangelo will be too expensive for the Leafs.

Lots of words here with zero substance. Leafs can afford to take a big contract on defense if they trade Nylander. Basic math says so. Especially after Marleau retires, which is exactly when Pietrangelo would be due for a contract. Gardiner is also walking. So is Hainsey.

Parayko isn't as good as people think he is. Pietrangelo is a proven player in his prime. Simple.

one thing is for sure... this type of fishing requires very little bait ... that treble hook must hurt that far down the throat.

How people are still talking to this mutt is beyond me.
Why does everybody else in here feel the need to entertain his mindless drivel?

Pitiful.

Irrelevant. Both Cherry and Fake only mentioned goals as a criticism for the contract. Hence my Marner comment.
- Steven_Seagull

Jesus fack.
60 pts for 7m
Still overpaid.
Ok?
He floats, gives half effort sometimes, disappears other times.
Ok?
Overpaid for now.
But oh well.

Should definitely be thinking about it, especially with Hamilton right there on the block.

No one is untouchable.
Its about winning, dont get too comfortable with any players. Specially B players and prospects.

- Fakepartofme

Obviously.

"Untouchable" was used loosely in this context: it means "players who, unless there is an absolutely unbelievable deal on the table, should be the last players on the trading block."
