Leafs get Duchene, Stone and Ceci

Ottawa gets Nylander, Brown/Johnson, Lilgren and a conditional 1st if the leafs either make the cup finals or resign either players.

Duchene and Stone are both UFAs so they would have less value to a team that is just renting them. This trade helps with the rebuild and gets Ottawa a top 21 year old under contract for 7 years. Also Stone and Duchene can both resign in the off season and play with Nylander if they really want to be apart of this rebuild.

I know this is a crazy long shot but the best deal the Leafs could make for Stone.[/img]

I think that's a very reasonable offer - possibly bordering on overpay by the Flames - but if they make noise in the playoffs and Stone is a contributor then the overpay goes away and it just becomes the price you pay when your team becomes a contender & the decision is made to go all in.

From Ottawa's perspective they get 2 "A" prospects and possibly a first rounder. Stone would end up in Calgary on a contender with his brother and I think that would make it an easier decision for him to resign in Calgary.

That's is the garbage Stones agent is trying to sell gm's and why no one, including the sens, can sign him to an extension. Which is why he isn't worth as much as a deadline player. After six seasons, if you haven't hit close to 80 points, your not in the ppg echelon and wont get paid. This is why Stone needs to finish his year, try to stay healthy, and try to finish off one 80 point season before becoming a free agent. Then he can go after the big payday and someone will be stupid enough to give it to him.
Stone is likened to a guy like Scott Hartnell in his prime, not Alex Ovechkin. He is a great support player, but not a premier winger.
