The preds were just on a 5-6 game losing streak....

Why when the Leafs lose two games in a row they are doomed but when the Preds loss 6 they are still a top team.

Exactly: let Tavares get more touches too. He ran a PP his entire career with the Islanders, spread the love around a bit.

Plus it creates some competition between PP1 and PP2, which isn't a bad thing at all.

Matthews should be on the 1st PP. That's just dumb. Taking him off the 1st PP just makes it even easier for teams to shut them down because it's one less dangerous player the PK has to worry about.

It's a stupid thing. Put the best players together. The problem hasn't been the players on the PP. The problem is what they're doing is predictable. Change the play, change where they are but keep the players the same. Except Kadri. Replace him with either Kapanen or Nylander.

Not necessarily - it's not just PPs that teams potentially stack, it's PKs too. If your team has one really reliable PK combination, you now have to choose whether you want them to defend JT/MM or AM/WN. There's enough skill to go around, and it's unlikely that a team would keep the same pairs of F/D out there for all 2 minutes.

That said, this could all backfire. But given that the PP has been horrible the last little while, it needed a change, even if just for a short while.
