There is "nothing to love" about 18-19 year olds getting traded during the season.

There is always one of these!! The kids are already billeted with strangers, not sure it makes too much of a difference, and besides, I'm sure for the chance to play in the NHL they'd all do it without complaining in a heartbeat.

I think you should save your outrage for people who don't willingly sign up for this.

I agree that junior players should not be traded except during the offseason. Very few players actually make it to the NHL. As a parent I find it ridiculous to think someone can force a kid to move during a school year.

I read an article this morning, 25% of the players from the QHJML were traded at the deadline. I can understand the trade deadline craze in the NHL. Guys are professionals, well paid, it is part of the deal. But we are talking about minors who aren't even paid minimum wage... There's no salary cap, junior teams move an absurd amount of players/picks to try and go for it in a specific year.

The only problem is that your moving young kids around like chess pieces on a board, their not professionals. They need to change schools and find new friends and live with other people.

And the Swift Current Broncos traded a St. Louis Blues goaltending prospect for two 1st round picks, a 2nd, a 3rd, a 4th and a 5th.

Nobody cares, is the problem.

They don't have "school" friends. They live and breathe hockey. Some players on the new team will become buddies. And it's usually quality players being traded so they aren't really concerned with the level of education because the only career they see at that point in their lives is hockey. And if they happen to be not as good as they think and go undrafted, universities aren't so concerned with their high school marks and CIS or NCAA schools and hockey is a decent way to extend your playing 'career'.

As a fan the crazy movement in the chl trade deadline is crazy. But what’s also crazy is how these kids are treated. Most of them are passed through high school barley attending, especially late in the season when games seem to be during the week more often. These kids get traded. Move cities, etc. the ones who make the show. Good for them. But all the rest. I’m sure others can attest to guys who played junior, were given a high school diploma, didn’t make the show who are now idiots with a crap job, but they are amazing on the Tuesday night men’s league team👍 Sorry for the rant. These kids don’t get paid and the ones who don’t make it. Don’t get set up to succeed

As I understand there are post-secondary educational programs set up for these kids post-hockey. As for education, perhaps some make it through the cracks, however there are also kids who do work on the bus, at their billets place and during the day that allows them to further their education and set themselves up in the future if hockey doesn't work out.

It is kinda crazy that these young kids can be uprooted from their lives out of left field. But honestly, the kids that play in this league take hockey incredibly serious. And all the kids the dream of playing in the NHL, this is literally perfect preparation for what to expect as you make your way into the professional leagues. There's chances you could be traded. There's chances your friends can be traded. There's chances your line mates end up being different cause your team traded for an upgrade. These kids all full well know what they are getting themselves into. And so do the parents.

edit: I'm not saying it's good or bad for them. But im sure they fully understand what can happen.

Save my outrage? I am not "outraged". But I think the CHL talks out of both sides of their mouths.
They claim it's not a business to get around labour laws. $85 a week plus room and board. Sign on the dotted line...Don't like it, then you are not in the club. These kids are forced to sign under duress. It is not legally binding.

So, it's "not a business" but they cut kids mid season and trade kids mid season. So, what is it then? A business? Clearly you are not a parent because you'd have another opinion as most of these kids never collect one $ playing pro

Let's not get into the "education packages" the players get. They have an expiration date
