They're a much worse team than their record indicates.
- BINGO!

They're an average team at best.

#Sabres lines at practice:

Skinner-Eichel-Thompson
Sheary-Sobotka-Reinhart
Girgensons-Mittelstadt-Pominville
Rodrigues-Larsson-Okposo

Pilut-Ristolainen
Dahlin-Bogosian
Scandella-McCabe
Beaulieu-Hunwick

I’m assuming CJ got sent down, Elie is better suited to watch from upstairs. Game 44 and we are finally getting what I wanted to see game 1 in terms of the Skinner-Eichel-Thompson combo.

- Pegullaville

CJ is skating with Ellie as the extra skater

I would put Smith where Girgensons is and E-Rod where Okposo is and sit him down a game or two

Yea I agree. Should have been the lines from day 1.

The Jackets should have traded both when it became known that both didn't want to be there. Rid yourself of the distraction and get value for them.
- SABRES 89

the problem with goalies is you pretty much have to do that offseason or wait till someone gets injured.. however maybe the Flyers would take him back..

These are the best lines I’ve seen with the selection of players we have had this year though imo. Housley is defintley making Mittelstadt earn his ice time which is nice to see. Still think him getting those minutes good or bad is still better for him long term.

Jeez if you guys didn’t make a single trade this offseason you’d have a pretty deep FWD lineup. Losing Skinner, Lindholm, and Hanifin and only getting Hamilton (who could be on the move again), Ferland, and poop was quite a crappy move by upper managements

Right. So how do you put the puck in the net? Who does that consistently?

Can you find me an example of someone who consistently puts the puck in the net who also doesn’t get a good volume of shots and chances?

The point is Tage is doing the process quite well, and has had absolutely 0 fortunate bounces, which as you point out happen frequently.

Problem is if you aren’t creating and shooting you will not get those bounces regularly.

I don’t get the argument. In fact it isn’t even an argument

- sbroads24

The point is there are guys who shoot a lot who don't score a lot. Your boy Tage might be one of them. Casey might be another. At this point I don't know, but your erection for Tage is as embarrasing as Fitz' erection for ROR.

We've had some pretty poor luck, too.

Lindholm had never scored more than 45 points.
Skinner is good, but was wildly inconsistent and wanted out anyway.

Hanifin has still be really up and down in Calgary, despit racking up points due to the ridiculous run the forwards are on there.

We've lost Staal to a concussion.
Ferland has been hurt a couple times this year.
Rask chopped his hand up in his kitchen before the year started and hasn't been able to play worth a poop since.
Fleury went down with a concussion.
Zykov didn't pan out the way anyone hoped.
Necas could probably be ready but if they keep him in the AHL this year they won't have to protect him in the expansion draft...
Scott Darling was an utter catastrophe.

The only reason Hamilton is possible to be moved is because the Canes have to trade a RHD to open a spot for Adam Fox anyway, and at this point they'll trade whatever defenseman will get them the best forward in return.

Sad really.

Always liked the player but IMO the concussions have taken a toll. He’s still not right out there.

That’s understandable. Playing with Monahan and Gaudreau helps Lindholm just as much as playing with Eichel helps Skinner. I guess it depends on what the Hurricanes get back for Hamilton if he’s moved in order to assess that trade. Losing Skinner for peanuts hurts though.

This is ironic coming from the “We’re going to be good” all things are positive Sabre fan Kaiser.

I’m rooting for one of the young Sabres to do well. And he’s doing very well

Skinner's still shooting over 21%. His career best is just over 14%. Eventually that number has to drop on him unless somehow after almost 600 NHL games he's suddenly morphed from a 30~ goal guy into a 60 goal one.

Lindholm always had the talent, but he's also shooting over 19%. Hell, there are four guys on the Flames shooting over 18%, which is ridiculous. Those numbers are going to fall for them too. Maybe they get obscenely lucky and somehow have 5 guys finish at a point per game or better (Including Giordano) but I highly doubt it.

Also, there is no contest between 37 and 72 right now.

Thompson is better. Casey isn’t playing well

Forsure. But even acquiring a 25-30 goal guy for a 2nd rounder essentially is a steal no matter how you slice it. Now whether or not we can resign him is another story. I still don’t go a penny over $8M on a long term deal. If the deal is 4-5 years in length then $8.5M is the highest I go and even then that’s buyer beware. Lindholm’s goal scoring pace will eventually fall off as well but he’s proven to be a good two way guy that fits on that line. It was basically a tale of two players finding perfect circumstances on their new teams.
