And not being a good goal scorer doesn’t mean you aren’t a good player
- sbroads24

Fair enough
But if Tage isn’t gonna be a scorer,
then we should look to move him
We have plenty of guys who can’t score
He’s someone that might bring back a scorer though

It’s good that it looks like they’re gonna give him a shot with Jack
If he still struggles with finishing,
then it might be best to move him while he’s got value

I’m not trashing the guy
Just trying to figure out where (or if) he fits moving forward

I believe you do.

This whole thing started because of another ridiculous Fitz post where he says to put Thompson on the line to “see what the kids got”. Like he wasn’t one of the three stars two of the previous three games.

Which is weird because three weeks ago he wasn’t sure if Thompson “earned” it .

So instead of saying that Thompson has earned it with some promising play, it’s now just a hey let’s just see if he can do anything, like the kid hasn’t played well and is now Joel Armia.

Fitz is just an open book.

Tage isn’t finishing on the chance he has
It’s fair to question whether or not he will be a goal scorer for us,
or just be a decent bottom6 guy like Armia

But instead of being optimistic or even excited about how well he’s played, you’ve turned it into he should be traded if he doesn’t start finishing more by the end of this year.

I’m telling ya dude, you are exactly how I was after Myers/Kane trade. It literally made me insufferable here for a solid year.

You realize you’ve stuck up for Kyle Okposo and Connor Sheary, while putting down a guy who had a better game than either of those two have had all year?

Once again a 40 freaking game sample size. The guy has played 77 career games a majority with 3rd line talent playing barely above 4th line minutes.

Eichel in his first 77 games was a 50 point player. This year he's on pace for 95+
Reinhart in his first 77 games was a 35-40 point player. This year he is on pace for 70+.

We should of traded both of those guys after their first seasons then according to your logic. Yes Thompson only has 18 points in 77 games but he also wasn't a top 5 pick, was most likely rushed, and mis-used. The past 10 games, especially the past 5 he's looked great. One game with Skinner and he was the best player on the ice and got an assist. Lets see what he can do over the next 15-20 games playing in the top 6 with good talent.

Literally 1 week ago

Sheary and Okposo are top 6 forwards, Mittelstadt is holding them back (Mittelstadt replaced ROR, so he takes a shot at Mitts)

Yesterday- Thompson needs to score despite his center being.......Sobotka, so Thompson isn’t really playing well (Shot at Thompson)

It’s an open book I tell ya

- sbroads24

He's just trolling you guys. The most absurd opinion possible is that they should turn around and trade him, and he's going there. Don't fall for it.

He would be estatic if Thompson was traded for a 3rd rounder tomorrow

Alright, this is super nerdy, but I've charted all of Reinhart's goals over his career. I've divided them into 5 categories:

BGOS - Beat goalie on shot
TIP
EN
TAP - tap in. This is a bit subjective. It's defined as a goal scored with the goalie out of position. It's a subtle difference compared to BGOS. It's being alone in a "soft area"
BANK

'15-16:

BGOS- 10
TIP- 4
EN- 1
TAP- 9
BANK- 0

'16-17

BGOS- 7
TIP- 3
EN-2
TAP-4
BANK-1

'17-18

BGOS- 4
TIP-9
EN-2
TAP-10
BANK-0

'18-19

BGOS-1
TIP-3
EN-1
TAP-3
BANK-0

TOTALS:

BGOS- 22
TIP-20
EN-6
TAP-25
BANK-1

I charted 2 non-EN goals from beyond the faceoff circles

Can I ask what was the motivation? It’s definitely interesting that he’s become less of a shooter since his rookie year?

He's has to be. Even RoR's Dad doesn't hate everyone associated with the trade that much.

I wanted to see how many times he actually shot the puck and scored. So 25% of his goals are tips, 30% are shots past the goalie, and 35% are the weird sense Reinhart has to get himself in a place next to the net with the goalie down and out.

Sheary has to produce, no question about it. Reinahrt drove play really well against the Devils at the tune of 76%CF. I think it’s the highest total of a Sabres player this season. Pretty crazy.

Sam had a really good game.

That’s insanely low if I had to guess.

I mean, Skinner has to be 60-70% this year in terms of shooting I would imagine

To be honest, I thought there would be fewer goals where he actually beat the goalie with a shot. He never seems to me to actually fire a puck past a goalie.

They’re going to fall hard pretty soon. They’ve been shooting at a really high % lately, while getting unsustainable goaltending.

It will regress

I'm a bit worried about carolina being part of the mix.
Losing 2-1.
Were up 1-0 into the 3rd.
7 pts. Back playing them tomorrow
If they win today and tomorrow- only 3 back of us

Thank you Tampa - 3 to 1 comeback win.
Also watched the Rangers/Isles 3rd. As noted earlier, 17 to 1 shots for the Rangers in the 3rd. The Islanders score on their 1 shot to win 4 - 3.
Montreal is going down to defeat in St Louis which is nice.

Our competition for the 7th/8th are Carolina, Isles and Montreal. Including Buffalo, pick 2. Sabres and Carolina are my picks.

Could potentially put Columbus in the mix as well as Isles/Canes could even overtake them. Boston isn't exactly out of the woods yet either although its unlikely they are the team that misses the playoffs out of the ones you just mentioned.

Montreal is fading fast
Columbus is a bit in turmoil, although they won
Bruins are looking old
Florida finished strong last year.

Gonna be fun. of home games in February and march

Really random and after the fact but i only just realized canada and the US didn't play in the WJs this year.

Anyone know when the last time that happened was?

Wasn't it a few years ago? The only way they would have is if they met in the finals, or something like that. Full disclosure "a few years ago" could mean 10.

They only met in 2008 and 2011 in the semis, the US lost both 4-1. Did not play in 2005 at all.

I’ve had predisposed bias towards Reinhart’s play and he’s starting to prove me wrong. I’m not afraid to admit it. The question is when Thompson is a 20 goal scorer in this league will you admit you were wrong ? Or will your hate of the trade continue to blind you until the end of time ?
- Pegullaville

The trade has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Thompson not scoring here
No, i didn’t like him as a prospect
Yes, i hope I’m wrong

I’m not the one who keeps bringing up O’Reilly

Tage has a “great shot”
but can’t finish

Why exactly is it wrong to be concerned about that?

That’s moronic
1) i didn’t say they were playing good
2) i didn’t say they were playing better than Tage
3) what i did say, was that it was overboard to say they weren’t NHLers, or even good enough for the top6 in Rochester

Calling someone out for saying something that’s stupid, is not the same as “sticking up for them”

And I’ll be “excited” about Tage when he starts converting all these chances

You act like I’m saying he’s playong poorly
Which no, i haven’t said
